Flash: Ogun Police Arrests Murder Suspect For Pushing Wife Into Latrine

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 46-year-old unemployed man, Surajudeen Alaraba, who killed his wife, Rauda, by pushing her into a pit latrine in their Agbado residence.
The law enforcement agents also paraded an 80-year old, Gorge Dada, and his 64-year-old wife, Sidikat, parents of an alleged notorious armed robber, Adeyemi Dada, who were for alleged illegal possession of firearms.
While parading the suspects on Tuesday at the state command headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye told pressmen that Alaraba allegedly threw his wife into a latrine over a domestic misunderstanding around 7.20pm on October 7 resulting in her death.
Okoye stressed that the police would not relent in protecting lives and properties in every part of the state.
According to him, “The Agbado Division had a distress call that a man pushed his wife into a deep pit and we quickly rushed to the scene where the victim was met dead in the pit.
The suspect was immediately apprehended and we are still interrogating him, he will be charged to court as soon as we are done with our investigations,” he said.
As for the elderly couple, the police chief said they were both arrested on Saturday following the discovery of some arms and ammunition hidden in their residence at 21 Obarinwa Street, Aiyegbami in Ago-Iwoye.
He stated that the arms and the ammunition were discovered hidden in Sidikat’s wardrobe.
Okoye said, “The DPO of Ago-Iwoye, Stephen Iriavbijeh, got information that the couple’s son, one Adeyemi Dada, is a notorious robber. The DPO then led a team to search the couple’s residence.
“On getting there, the suspect was not seen but while executing the search warrant, one cut-to-size gun, two locally-made pistols and 16 live cartridges were recovered in his mother’s wardrobe.
“Thus, they arrested the couple in whose possession the firearms were found for thorough interrogation.”
The police boss however assured the residents that the police would do everything within their capacity to make the state safer for all.
