Today is the most fertile day of the year.More babies will be born today-Research

MORE babies will be conceived today than any other day this year, a new research has revealed. With the average gestation period for a baby being 40 weeks December 11, exactly 40 weeks prior to September 16, has been labelled as the most fertile day of the year.

Cute-Baby

December is also the most popular month for conceptions, as 9 per cent of babies are conceived then and the 10 most popular birthdays in the UK are all in September. The United Kingdom’s national birth records show that September 16 is the most popular birthday in the UK.Scientists said that winter is a more fertile season than summer because sperm quality is higher in the cold.

People also have more sex in December than other winter months because of festive partying and end-of-year happiness.Famous people born on September 16 include the actor Mickey Rourke and the singer Katie Melua.

The statistics were compiled by Lovehoney, Britain’s biggest online seller of sex toys, based on established scientific studies. Lovehoney co-founder, Neal Slateford said they were expecting a huge boom in sales prior to December 11.

He said: “December is always one of our busiest month as couples treat each other at Christmas.“Everyone is increasingly doing their Christmas shopping online – who wants to go out to the shops when it is pouring down and there are queues at the check-outs?

“So we are expecting a big surge ahead of December 11, the most fertile and sexiest day of the year, when I guess a lot of broody couples will be staying in and having a good time!”

Bath-based Lovehoney compiled the statistics as it celebrated record sales in 2012, thanks to Fifty Shades of Grey for which it has developed the official range of pleasure products.

Turn-over shot up by a third, driven by a record demand for toys such as the silver balls featured in the E L James trilogy.

He beats me at night and rapes me in front of the children.

When the woman’s husband stopped beating her up and raping her she thought he had finally come to his senses, but he had decided to start sexually abusing their teenage daughter instead – and forcing their son to watch.

domestic-violence

Then the child could not take the abuse any longer – and the father is now behind bars. The 44-year-old woman told Daily Sun that for 20 terrible years, her husband would pull her out of bed at night, rip her clothes off, beat her with a sjambok until she bled and then he would rape her in front of the children.

Seven children were born out of this emotional, physical and sexual hell – and when her husband stopped terrorising her she was grateful and relieved that she could rest. She then found out that the man had taken to raping their 14-year-old daughter, insisting that her 12-year-old brother should watch. Now the young girl has managed to get her father arrested and her mother has been liberated from 20 years of abuse.

“I was a prisoner in my own home for the past 20 years. I was threatened with death if I spoke to my relatives. He would not allow me to attend relatives’ funerals or any other ceremony. At home he would take off my clothes and beat me up in front of the children. He had a spear he kept under his pillow, and would tell me over and over that soon he would use it to stab me to death.”

But the brave teenager couldn’t tolerate the abuse any longer. In August, he was taken into custody and charges were laid.

She said: “My dad told me he would end my life if I told anyone what he was doing to me. But I knew it was wrong because they taught us at school about this. I told my neighbours, who called the cops.”

Shortly after the father’s arrest, their 12-year-old son was accused of raping the nine-year-old neighbour’s girl. He had been released into the custody of his mother.

“I believe he learnt to do this from his father. But thanks to my daughter, I am now free to walk outside and sleep peacefully without fear,” said the sad mother.

Police spokesman Colonel Leonard Hlathi said the man last appeared in court on 22 November and was denied bail. “He remains behind bars, awaiting his trial,” he said.

Social Services spokesman Ronnie Masilela said they have already begun giving the entire family counselling.

Man pays prophet to impregnate his own wife

While it was not his direct intention, but it eventually turned out that he had paid the prophet to impregnate his own wife.

Man_impregnate_daughter-300x230

A Plumtree man, Mike Tshuma, gave a self proclaimed prophet a thorough hiding for snatching his wife. For his ‘kung-fu’ super skills, he was brought before magistrate Mr Livared Philfimon facing assault charges.

It is reported that sometime in June, the accused decided to seek help from prophet Moses Dube after his wife had failed to conceive. Dube told the couple that he was going to help the woman and within a few months she would be pregnant. He therefore demanded a lot of money for his services and Tshuma paid before seeing the outcome.

Since June, the woman pretended to be going for treatment at Dube’s place, but it turned out that the two were allegedly having an illicit affair. In September, Tshuma reportedly confronted Dube to understand why his wife still had a flat tummy and he was told that by end of the following month the woman would be pregnant.

The man believed the prophet despite having heard word on the street that his wife and the prophet were playing games behind his back. Tshuma got a kick on his teeth on 18 November when he arrived at his homestead and found his wife having left with all her belongings and some of their property.

The shocked man reportedly looked for his wife at her relatives places, but the woman was nowhere to be seen. A week later, he was tipped by some villagers who informed him that his wife was staying with prophet Dube. Upon arrival at Dube’s place, he found the two lovebirds and without wasting any time he ordered his wife to return to their matrimonial home, but she refused.

Hell broke loose when he wanted to beat her up as Dube intervened and told him to leave within a twinkle of an eye. That did not go down well with Tshuma forcing him to mete instant justice on the suspected woman snatcher. He reportedly gave him a thorough hiding and was only saved by neighbours.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Tshuma’s arrest and he pleaded guilty to the charges. He was remanded out of custody to 12 December for sentence.

Pictures: See The 9 Month Old Babies That Can’t Walk Or Talk, But Can Swim

They are too young to walk and talk but tiny twins William and Ellenita Trykush can swim a length of a 25-metre pool at just nine months old.

The water babies love gliding up and down on their backs, kicking their legs to propel themselves along.nd as this delightful underwater picture shows, they even smile while they’re swimming.

Their achievements are even more astonishing given that they were born by emergency caesarean six weeks early.

The twins’ extraordinary talent emerged during a family holiday to Cyprus in October when they began to swim underwater, unaided and without armbands.

On their return to Cirencester, Gloucestershire, their mother Charlotte, 35, took them to local baby pool at the Cotsworld Leisure Centre where they both suddenly set off on their backs.
‘It was astonishing. First they did five metres, then a width at seven metres, and then a length of 12 metres,’ said French-born Mrs Trykush, a former swimming coach.

We were so excited – all the receptionists and swimming coaches came to watch and were amazed.

‘One of the coaches has been teaching for 20 years and she said she’d never seen anything like it.

‘I think it comes naturally to them, as they are too young to actually learn the strokes.’

Mr and Mrs Trykush, who are both youth workers, married in September 2008 and discovered they were expecting in July last year.

It was only at their 12 week scan that they discovered they were having not one, but two.

Mr Trykush, 49, said: ‘When I saw the two little dots on the screen it was just amazing.

‘I sank to my knees and shouted “Yes!” as if Chelsea had won the cup.

They were born by emergency Caesarean on 7 February, Ellenita first at five pounds (2.24kg) and then William at four-and-half pounds (2.07kg).

William had swallowed a large amount of blood, which had to be sucked out his stomach, and was severely jaundiced.

‘It was a very traumatic birth and William nearly died,’ said Mrs Trykush. ‘They were in incubators for three weeks but I was just so relieved they were going to be OK.

‘They were so premature and small that although I’d intended to take them swimming as soon as possible, I was worried they would get too cold in the water.

Activists Urge Government To Strengthen Human Rights Laws

Human rights activists have identified torture, extra judicial killings, child abuse and violation of rights of women especially on the issue of rape as some of the prevalent rights abuses in the country

Police-Brutality-298x2671

The activists believe that the prevalence of human rights violations is as a result of a weak criminal justice system, lack of definite and concrete policies on the part of government to protect the rights of Nigerians.

They suggested the domestication of the various human rights treaties signed by Nigeria, strengthening of laws and demonstration of its commitment to stop the abuse of the fundamental rights of all Nigerians as a measure to curb human rights violation in the country.

The year 2012 has witnessed an upsurge in cases of human rights violations in the country. The violations of the rights of individuals range from torture and extrajudicial killings, rape and domestic violence.

The Nigerian Human Rights Commission identified the Nigerian Police as a major violator of human rights in its 2012 report on the insurgency in Nigeria.

Amnesty International added a new dimension to the violation of human rights in the country as it accused the military and the police and other security agencies of violating the rights of Nigerians in the process of tackling security challenges in the northern part of the country.

Police spokesman, Frank Mba, debunking the claim said the police, though not a perfect organization has continued to protect the rights of Nigerians in the discharge of its constitutional duties.

Flash: NECO Introduces Customized Answer Scripts To Check Examination Malpractice

The Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof Promise Okplala says the Council has introduced the use of customised answer scripts for its examination.
Okpala told reporters on Tuesday, in Abuja that the customised answer scripts would  tackle the challenge of hoarding of remnants of answer scripts by invigilators.
He said such “left over scripts’’ are then sold by the supervisors to fraudsters who engaged in various forms of examination malpractice.
“The Nigeria of those days is not possible in 2012. They (Examination fraudsters) have so many ways of cheating and we, on our part are always coming out with ways to counter them.
“These customised scripts appear alike, but every paper has a unique secret code. So if you use the answer script for English Language, for instance, to answer Biology, we will fish you out,” he said.

The Registrar explained that the secret code was only known to three people and would only be revealed to the invigilator an hour before the examination.
“So we want to let the public know, especially those that are engaged in examination malpractice, do not bother to write outside the hall because your script will be fished out.”
He said part of the measures put in place to secure examination papers were cancellation of “sleeping places’’ , where papers are kept in overnight custody at police stations, banks and even palaces of chiefs in the community.
He said that papers were now kept in a single location, and that is NECO’s state offices, where security had also been tightened.
Okpala said the papers were then transported as early as 5 a.m. on the day of the examination to the examination centres by the many vehicles that were stationed there.
“That is why we have shifted our examination time to 10 a.m. because by then we estimate that the papers would have reached all the centres within the state.
“That has led to an increase in the cost of our logistics, because during full operations, we use as many as 400 vehicles and drivers would be paid allowances,” he said.
Okpala said the foregoing, as well as printing examination questions in batches, had also helped to minimise leakage.
“Most importantly, we do not joke with our staff welfare to prevent inducement by dubious people who offer them `kola’.”
The Registrar who attributed malpractice to lack of preparation on the part of students, urged parents and teachers to prepare candidates for examinations well ahead of time.
“This is all due to the fact that students are not well prepared and so do not have confidence in themselves.
“Let us go back to the roots and make sure we prepare candidates who will be eager to go into examination halls, because nobody seeks for support in a game one can win clean,’’ he advised.

Flash: ‘Royal Prank’ Radio Station To Give $500,000 To Dead Nurse’s Family

An Australian radio station Tuesday pledged at least Aus$500,000 (US$523,600) to help the grieving family of a nurse duped by a royal prank phone call, after coming under sustained scrutiny over the hoax.
Nurse Jacintha Saldanha, who fielded the hoax call from Sydney station 2Day FM to London’s King Edward VII Hospital, was found Friday after apparently committing suicide.
The Indian-born mother-of-two put the call through to a colleague, who divulged details of the recovery of Prince William’s pregnant wife Kate from severe morning sickness.
The station initially suspended all advertising after the death but said it would resume Thursday, with all profits until the end of the year given to an “appropriate fund that will directly benefit the family of Jacintha Saldanha”.
The amount donated would be at least Aus$500,000, it said.
“We are very sorry for what has happened,” Rhys Holleran, chief executive of Southern Cross Austereo which owns the station, said in a statement.
“We hope that by contributing to a memorial fund we can help to provide the Saldanha family with the support they need at this very difficult time.”

In the wake of the death the company suspended all prank calls across its network and cancelled the show which ran the segment.
But the station remains under renewed pressure to fully explain how its royal prank call was cleared to air after the shattered hosts said they were not ultimately responsible.
In an emotional public appearance Monday, 2Day FM presenters Mel Greig and Michael Christian said that while they made the call to the hospital, the hoax was vetted by others without their involvement.
“It’s not up to us to make that decision (to air). We just record it and then it goes to the other departments to work out,” said Greig in an emotional interview with Australia’s Nine Network.
Christian added: “There’s a process in place for prank calls or anything that makes it to air, and you know, that’s out of our hands.”
Media pressure is growing in Australia for the network to fully explain how the segment made it to air, with the Sydney Daily Telegraph claiming senior management were “dodging responsibility”.

In an online report, the ABC’s Europe correspondent added: “Some of the British media is asking the question, well, we still don’t know who ultimately made that decision.”
Holleran has said the station called the London hospital five times to discuss what it had recorded before going to air.
Under Australian regulations, the permission of anyone bearing the brunt of a radio prank must be sought before the call can be broadcast.
But the hospital denied on Monday that anyone within its senior management or media unit were contacted.
Holleran has insisted the appropriate checks were conducted before the pre-recorded segment was broadcast, and defended the presenters in an interview Monday with Australia’s Ten Network.
The stunt was vetted by lawyers before being aired but no one else involved in the decision has been named.
The case has triggered demands for tougher regulation of the electronic media although Australia’s press regulator, the Australian Communications and Media Authority, has not commented on whether the station broke any rules.
Saldanha’s “devastated” husband and teenage children made an emotional public appearance for the first time Monday outside Britain’s Houses of Parliament, speaking through lawmaker Keith Vaz, whose family is also from India.
“This is a close family. They are devastated by what has happened. They miss her every moment of every day,” said Vaz, alongside Benedict Barboza and the couple’s children aged 14 and 16.
“They just want me to say that they are extremely grateful to the public here in the United Kingdom and throughout the world who have sent them messages of condolences and support following the death of Jacintha, a loving mother and a loving wife.”
The family later visited the King Edward VII Hospital, which is launching the memorial fund for them.

Flash: Nelson Mandela Suffering From Lung Infection; Losing His ‘Spirit & Sparkle’ – Wife

South Africa’s former President Nelson Mandela is being treated for a lung infection, it was revealed as he spent his fourth day in hospital today.
The announcement came as Mandela’s wife Graca Machel said her husband was losing his trademark “spirit and sparkle”.
A statement from current President Jacob Zuma’s office said today: “Doctors have concluded the tests, and these have revealed a recurrence of a previous lung infection, for which Madiba is receiving appropriate treatment and he is responding to the treatment.”
Mrs Machel told a South African television news channel: “I mean, this spirit and this sparkle, you see that somehow it’s fading.
“To see him aging, it’s something also which pains you. You understand and you know it has to happen,” she said.
Mr Mandela’s grand-daughter Ndileka told the same news channel that the anti-apartheid icon has come to accept his condition.
She said: “He has come to accept that it’s part of growing old, and it’s part of humanity as such.”
“At some point you will be dependent on someone else, he has come to embrace it.”
The pair’s comments are the first official remarks by Mr Mandela’s family since the former President was rushed to hospital on Saturday.

Council boss ordered attack on me – Youth leader

Youth leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, Lagos, Adedeji Oshinowo, has accused the Chaiman of the council, Mr. Abdulfatai Oyesanya, of orchestrating an attack that left him with eight machete cuts.

Adedeji-Oshinowo-360x2251-300x187
Forty-three-year-old Oshinowo told PUNCH Metro on Saturday that his problem with the council boss had to do with the fact that he did not belong to Oyesanya’s political camp.

Our correspondent learnt on Thursday that there were sporadic shootings at Ketu area around 9pm.

Findings later revealed that a man (Oshinowo) was attacked in the area by thugs who came in a white van marked, Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, Lagos, and a Volvo car.

At a hospital where Oshinowo was being treated, he gave an account of the attack that landed him in the emergency ward.

He said, “Around 6pm on Thursday, I was at a meeting in my ward. While the ward chairman was addressing members, some ladies, who are loyalists of Oyesanya were being rude to him. I cautioned them and appealed to the ward chairman just to quell the crisis.

“I went home after the meeting and was relaxing in the front of my house around 9pm when I noticed a white van and a Volvo car pull up close to my house. Some men dressed in black and a lady I know as Shade came out with them.”

Oshinowo explained that Shade was one of the ladies who were allegedly causing problem during the ward meeting.

He added that the lady was the one who identified him for his attackers.

The youth leader said, “She pointed to me saying ‘that is the Deji.’

“When the men approached, I recognised one of them, Saheed, an aide to Oyesanya.”

According to Osinowo, the attackers, who were wielding guns and machetes, shot sporadically into the air and pounced on him.

He said he must have lost consciousness during the attack as he could not recall much of what happened.

“I was told I was revived in the hospital. I don’t have any problem with Oyesanya except that he is angry because I’m not one of his loyalists,” he said.

The case was reported at the Ketu Police Division. In May 2012, Saturday PUNCH reported a crisis at Ketu after some hoodlums wreaked havoc in the area following an attempt to impeach Oyesanya.

When Oyesanya’s spokesperson, Mr. Ajibola Adeyinka, was contacted on Sunday, he said the council boss could not possibly have anything to do with the attack on Oshinowo.

He said, “Why would the chairman send people to attack anyone? Are they contesting an election against each other or what? Even if they are, would that warrant an attack on him? It does not make sense.

“The report we got was that the man (Oshinowo) slapped someone at the ward meeting and there was pandemonium. We got a report that he was drunk. You can even confirm this from Ketu Police Division.”

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident.

“Three people have been arrested and will be charged to court tomorrow (Monday),” she said.

3 Policemen Run For Dear Life As R*pist Allegedly Turns Into A Baboon

A man who was wanted for allegedly defiling a juvenile in Zimbabwe and escaping twice from police custody reportedly turned into a baboon when he was arrested by members of the Neighbourhood Watch Committee.

BABOON1

The man has been on the run for the past two months. It is alleged that on 2 December he returned to the area pretending to have forgotten his ‘sins’. The fuming villagers reportedly teamed up and proceeded to his place baying for his blood.

A reliable source said: “When people arrived at his homestead, he locked up himself in one of the bedroom huts. Villagers wanted to teach him a lifetime lesson and set him as an example to other would-be rapists therefore they broke down the door to get him. Ndlovu, realising that villagers were baying for his blood, confessed his sins, asking for forgiveness and promised to hand himself over to the police.”

Some fuming villagers did not tolerate or listen to his pleas and started meting instant justice on him. Fortunately, members of the Neighbourhood Watch Committee came to his rescue and stopped the mob from taking the law into their own hands.

“When the villagers were busy beating up Ndlovu, police officers arrived and stopped them saying they were arresting him. The villagers tried to convince them that it was high time they disciplined the man since police had failed, but they took him away,” said the source.

On their way to the Police Station, it is alleged that the man turned into a baboon sending three Neighbourhood Watch Committee members scurrying for cover.

“You know the villagers were surprised to see the three policemen running as if someone was chasing after them. They even failed to stop and we followed them to their homesteads to ask what had happened on the way. What we heard was unbelievably, despite talking to them separately, their story was the same,” said the source.

One of the Neighbourhood Watch Committee members Nkosilathi Dube confirmed the incident saying: “I have never seen a person turning into a baboon but he did when we were taking him to the police station as he was being accused of rape. As we were walking, we realised that it was only the three of us and a baboon, that’s when we ran away without saying a word.”

We all know that weird things happen in Africa generally, but a man turning into a baboon have never been heard of before. Do you believe this story? Is it possible or impossible for a human being to turn into a baboon even if he is using jazz?

Unidentified Man Falls From Sky

Police believe he was from Africa, probably from Angola, but they don’t know his identity.

Britain Falling Man

The mystery began in September when residents of a suburban street in the Mortlake neighborhood of West London woke up on a quiet Sunday morning to find the crumpled body of a black man on the sidewalk of Portman Avenue, near a convenience store, an upscale lingerie shop and a storefront offering Chinese medical cures.

Detectives believed at first the man was a murder victim and cordoned off the area. Within a day, however, police concluded the man – probably already dead – had fallen to the ground when a jet passing overhead lowered its landing gear as it neared the runway at nearby Heathrow Airport.

The apparent stowaway had no identification papers – just some currency from Angola, leading police to surmise that he was from that African nation, especially as inquiries showed that a plane from Angola was beginning its descent into Heathrow at about that time.

The macabre explanation made perfect sense to residents, who are familiar not only with the roar of the jets descending, but are also able to see the planes lower their landing gears as they pass overhead, said Catherine Lambert, who lives a few doors down from the spot where the man landed.

“You could see him, his body was contorted,” she said. “It was a beautiful blue day, really sunny, but we had to keep the children inside. I didn’t want the children to see, and to have to explain to them and put fear into them every time a plane goes over.”

A post mortem conducted two days after the body landed listed the cause of death as “multiple injuries.”

In the days afterward, some neighbors put flowers on the spot where the stowaway was found, and a small group of Angolans who live in the London area came to place more flowers and to pray. Lambert, 41, said there is lingering sadness, since the man has not been identified and there has been no way to tell his family he is gone.

“I felt, what was he running away from? What made him think he could he could? And how will his family ever know? He’s a lost soul now; his father and mother are probably waiting for him to make contact,” she said.

A London police spokesman, who wasn’t authorized to speak on the record because of force policy, said Sunday that police are appealing to the public for help identifying the man based on a composite image of his face and a photo of a tattoo on his left arm. The tattoo showed the letters “Z” and “G” inked on his upper arm, with a horizontal line through the “Z”.

Police also said attempts to identify the man with the help of Angolan authorities had been unsuccessful. They stressed there is only “circumstantial” evidence linking the stowaway to that country.

In a statement, police said the man is believed to be an African of slight build between the ages of 20 and 30. He was wearing jeans, white sneakers and a gray sweatshirt when he was found on Sept. 9, police said.

Although firm figures are not available, in recent years there has been a rise in the number of stowaways trying to get to Western Europe by hiding in the undercarriages of passenger planes.
