Mother abandons baby in the bush in Ikorodu

A baby boy who appears to be less than 24 hours old was found abandoned in a deserted path surrounded by shrubs in Ikorodu area of Lagos state recently.

baby-abandoned-in-bush4

The innocent child was welcomed to the world in this most wicked manner by an unknown mother or parents. The baby boy who was neatly wrapped was found in a bush along Ikorodu -Itokin road, close to the popular Lucky Fibre bus-stop, Ikorodu.

According to residents, the baby was found at about 7am that fateful day by passers-by who were alerted by the cries of the baby.

Sympathisers quickly rushed to the scene and saw the baby crying. There was no written note or inscription left by the run-away mother. According to an eye witness, the good Samaritans were afraid to carry the innocent crying baby but on the orders of the chairman of the Community Development Authority, CDA, the innocent baby was immediately taken to the nearest police station.

The child was immediately taken to Shagamu road Police Division, Ikorodu and then to an orphanage.

Wonders as the saying goes shall never cease. It is very amazing to hear cases of child abandonment especially when one considers the fact that children are precious gifts from God.

The man, whose name is withheld to protect the identity of the child, is in custody assisting police with investigations. Acting police spokesperson for Midlands, Assistant Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, said the incident occurred last Wednesday at around 5 am at Thornhill Airbase in Gweru.

The suspect is the brother to the toddler’s 36-year-old mother, whose name is also being withheld in the interest of the toddler. Asst Insp Mahoko said on the fateful day the mother of the two-year-old girl left the juvenile sleeping alone in the spare bedroom. It is alleged that the accused sneaked into the bedroom where the victim was sleeping and took her to his bedroom where he raped her once. The matter came to light when the mother of the child, on her return home, noticed that her daughter was having difficulties when walking. Asst Insp Mahoko said the mother questioned her daughter on what happened in her absence and the juvenile revealed that she had been raped. A police report was made leading to the arrest of the suspect. Asst Insp Mahoko said investigations were still in progress.

Bayelsa Heli-Crash: Timi Dakolo, Wife Travelled By Road, Escaped Death

We all know the last month of the year is a special month of thanksgiving but December will be an extra special month of praises to God for Timi Dakolo who along with his wife Busola could have died in today’s helicopter crash which claimed the life of the Kaduna State Governor Patrick Yakowa, a former national security adviser Owoeye Azazi, and others.

timi-and-wife

Investigations reveal that Dakolo and his wife attended the burial ceremony of the father of Oronto Douglas, the Special Adviser on Research and Documentation to President Jonathan.

Dakolo who is expected to perform at the closing ceremony of the ‘Rivers State Carnival‘ (Caniriv), was meant to fly along with Governor Yakowa, immediate-past National Security Adviser, Andrew Azazi and four others but opted out, deciding to travel by road at the last minute.

‘Timi is doing okay, he was meant to fly on that chopper but he didn’t. I just got off the phone with him’, Tony ‘Don T’ Anifite, an executive for Now Muzik, Dakolo’s management team confirmed.

Timi Dakolo who missed death by the whiskers took to micro-blogging site Twitter to douse the fears and give thanks to God. ‘God saved me’, he tweeted.

I Would Love To Have A White Maid Before Leaving Government – Minister

Minister Saviour Kasukuwere has a rather odd wish he hopes to accomplish before leaving government, which is to have a white maid or gardener.

kasukuwere1

Kasukuwere, a Zanu PF official, says his forefathers worked as domestic servants for white people, and now he wants the situation flipped. Addressing a seminar on youth empowerment in Masvingo Thursday, Kasukuwere said the controversially-crafted Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act provided black people with an opportunity to take charge of the economy and advance their prospects.

The law compels foreign or white-owned companies to cede a 51 percent stake to “indigenous people” who were disadvantaged by racial imbalances before independence from white minority rule in 1980.

“We are not against them because they are white, we only want to become what they were, we are only closing the gap,” Kasukuwere was quoted as saying by VOA.

Kasukuwere accused Finance Minister Tendai Biti of sabotaging the black empowerment initiative by not availing adequate financial resources for youth programmes.

Biti and Kasukuwere have differed sharply on the indigenisation law with the MDC-T minister saying it scares away foreign investors and therefore, damages the already fragile economy. But Kasukuwere, backed by his Zanu PF party, argues that black Zimbabweans should be allowed to take control of all sectors of the economy, including mining firms and banks.

The two ministers went head-to-head over the hot button subject on a live StarFM broadcast Wednesday. Biti said an MDC-T government would review the empowerment regulations and ensure they are “not about percentages” but about “genuine empowerment.”

Kasukuwere countered that Biti was actually working against black empowerment. While concern abounds over the economic ramifications of the 51 percent equity requirement, President Robert Mugabe pitched a more radical approach last week saying it’s perhaps time for the government to require white-owned companies to transfer full ownership to blacks.

“I think now we have done enough of 51 percent. Let it be 100 percent. If you don’t want to abide by the rules go away,” Mugabe told a Zanu PF conference in Gweru.

Wizkid Finally Opens Up About Davido, His Supposed Love Child, And His Lifestyle

Popular singer, Ayo Balogun, aka Wizkid, speaks about his career, Love child and his lifestyle.

wizkid2
About my career

Although I am hardworking, I would not be where I am today if God had not made it possible. It has been hard work all the way. I am just thankful to God. Initially, I prayed to God to bless my work. I have always believed in hard work. If you work hard, you will be rewarded. I just kept working hard and staying on my lane and doing my thing. I wouldn’t say I saw this success coming. But I kept praying to God to make it happen for me and He did. I don’t intend to stop now, just because I have achieved this ‘little’ success. I am just on my first album. I am not fulfilled yet. I am not even close to getting fulfilled. I have not started anything. I feel that God has a big plan for me. I have to live up to expectation. That is why I am always working. My album is ready. I dropped my album last year. It is going to be another two years before I release another one. The new album reflects a more mature Wizkid at work. I will be involved in a number of collaborations.

About Empire Mate Entertainment

I am not a greedy person. I am very open with the people I work with. All the people on the EME label act like members of one family. What we have is not just a working relationship. I am not scared or worried about the other artistes signed on to EME. When Banky W and I started the records label, our dream was to make EME an empire. It was after my album became successful that we started having new artistes. If Banky W didn’t pull me up, I wouldn’t be where I am today. It is all about talent at EME. There is no rivalry here. That is not how we work. Before I release any song, I let my label mates listen to it. Even if there is a beat I have, I let them listen to it. This is a family thing. We work together. There is no rivalry among us. If we had any competition, it would not augur well for the growth of the label. All we have is love. I am grateful to God for taking us this far. We are not competing with anybody, even outside EME. We are doing our thing and getting our money.

Davido and I

There is certainly no friction between Davido and I. We are friends, just as I am friendly with other Nigerian artistes. I think some people are just saying what comes to their minds. When I emerged as a singer, people were comparing me with Wande Coal. The sky is big enough for every bird to fly. He (Davido) has not stolen my fans. Nobody has said that he has lured my fans away. I am still performing at shows and getting well paid for it. I am not competing with him either. My fans still show me love. But then, in Nigeria, all of us actually have the same fans. If I mount the stage, people will scream. They will do the same thing if Tuface appears on stage, too. This shows that the sky is big enough for all of us. You cannot be alone in the music industry. We need more people. This is not a one-man show.

My kind of music

When I go into the studio, I try to record a song that would sound different when you play it in a nightclub or on the radio station. I had to create my own type of music. I had expected people to think of my music as different from what they are used to.

Occasional regrets

It is not often that I wish I wasn’t involved in entertainment. But when I think of not doing what I used to do anymore, I feel bad. I cannot walk freely on the streets again. But then, the other rewards I get from being an artiste make up for such moments. You cannot have everything at once.

Back to school

I have planned my career. If I have to go back to school, it means I have to study music business. I want to learn more about my business. Although I have my lawyers handling stuff for me now, I really want to know more about music. If I have to have my own company in future, I will be able to handle it. Definitely, I will go back to school one day. Right now, everything is fine. If I have to go back to school, it has to be on a part time basis. I have concerts to attend and I am always going on tour. It will be difficult for me to go back to school and study full time.

Music fans

I feel blessed when people cluster around me. Although it can get crazy sometimes, it is still a blessing. I used to walk freely on the streets before and nobody gave me attention. But the story has changed now and I think it is a good thing. I don’t have to feel bad about it.

No love child

It was rumoured that I had a love child. Even if I had a child, I don’t think it is something I should be ashamed of. Instead, I would come out plainly and declare that I am a father. Everybody makes mistakes. But it was just a false rumour. I don’t have a child anywhere. Besides, women hang around every male artiste. It comes with the job. Girls will definitely fall in love with any successful musician. They may find you attractive just because you are talented. I handle women my own way.

Aspiration

I want to be a good father to my children when the time comes. I intend to have a great family. Right now, I am working to have a better life. I always try to plan ahead. It is too early to ask me if I have seen the woman I would spend the rest of my life with. I am not even involved in any relationship.

My family

My family gives me plenty of support and love. They are always with me. When problems come, they are the ones I run to.

Managing fame

I know that many people have not been able to manage fame. So they get hooked on hard drugs and other vices. People don’t know that I am under pressure most of the time. In spite of this, I have managed to go this far.

Music business in Nigeria

Music business should be for those who have the talent. Many people think music is just a very easy way of getting out of the streets and making money. Some think it is a short cut to popularity. But there is more to it. You can be great in whatever you set out to do as long as you are talented. You can make shoes and you can become an international shoemaker. You can be an international caterer. You must not follow the bandwagon. People are just biased. They feel they can sing in the studio. If it is not God’s plan for them, it won’t work. Some of my colleagues are in the wrong business. But the presence of such people will always make you look good in the industry. We need such people around so that people will see the better ones and know that they are really good.

EME Concert

This is different from the concerts we are used to having in the country. The concert is coming up very soon in Lagos. We are bringing in a lot of things on the stage. We want to make sure that we have a great show. Other guest artistes will also perform at the concert. Definitely, the whole EME stars will be on the stage. The idea to have this show was a collective thing. Expect lots of fun at the show.

Bizarre: Stunned Parents Pull Feather Out Of Baby’s Neck, Thought It Was A Pimple

article-2247123-167BA4D0000005DC-263_634x627 article-2247123-167B7E5B000005DC-645_634x550

A seven-month-old girl was taken to hospital Saturday by concerned parents after an area just below her jaw swelled up to the size of one and a half golf balls with a pimple on top.
After initially diagnosing an infection, doctors were shocked when they discovered a two-inch-long black feather had got lodged underneath Mya Whittington’s skin.
Aaron and Emma Whittington first took their nearly seven-month-old daughter to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Kansas on Saturday after the area below her jaw swelled up.
article-2247123-167B7FF7000005DC-74_634x922
‘They thought it was a swollen gland,’ Aaron Whittington said.
The hospital administered an antibiotic and sent the family home.
Mya’s grandmother took her back to the hospital after a ‘pimple’ appeared on the swollen area, which had now grown to the size of about one and a half golf balls, Aaron Whittington said.
The physician suspected a staph infection on her lymph nodes.
A doctor broke the pimple to try to drain it and drew marks on her face to measure whether the swelling increased. The intravenous antibiotics were continued.
On Monday, the doctor on rounds scraped off a scab that formed. After the doctor left, the Whittingtons noted what appeared to be a string or stick emerging from the spot. They left it alone, since the doctor hadn’t done anything to it, Aaron said.
‘She’s been pulling on the left side of her face for a couple of months,’ Emma said, but she suspected it was teething or an ear infection.
article-2247123-167BA553000005DC-671_306x423
In her 20 years on the pediatric floor at the hospital, RN Sandra Mathis has never seen the like, though she recalls a child coming in once with hairbrush bristles stuck in its tonsils that had to be removed, from chewing on a brush.
The Whittingtons’ doctor indicated the swelling had to be causing an immense amount of pain, Emma said, but Mya cried mostly only when nurses have poked her.
Her ordeal isn’t over yet, however. The swollen area has a hard knot in it about four centimeters in size. If the knot doesn’t break up on its own, Mya is headed for surgery in Wichita to remove it.
Swallowed feather pulled out of the neck??? How is this even possible??? Weird.

Revealed: New Blackberry 10 Phone Looks Like An Iphone

article-0-167B688C000005DC-992_634x441

New pictures of the sleek, shiny and futuristic – Blackberry 10 L series have been released and it looks very much like an iPhone.
The images suggest Research In Motion has finally dropped the full keyboard and opted for a full touchscreen device.
However unlike the iPhone, the new BlackBerry has no home button adorning its front. It is expected that the software will allow users to switch between apps without having to go via a home screen.

article-2247092-167B74A3000005DC-792_634x475

Some components of the new Blackberry10 L series include a 1,800mAh battery, a rear-facing camera with flash, and a micro-USB data and charging connector. A micro-HDMI connector is also included on the handset, providing it with the ability to connect to high-resolution external displays – suggesting RIM will be bundling film rental services, as its rivals Apple and Google do with their respective operating systems.
The operating system is designed to take BlackBerry handsets out of the feature phone era and into the world of the smartphone with full support for HTML5 browsing, high-resolution displays and third-party applications – including support for some Android apps.
It is also rumored the new Blackbery10 L series has a reboot time of 8 seconds….wow right??!!! Its not confirmed yet though, so I guess we’d have to wait for its release to confirm that.
The device boasts not only a micro-USB connector, but also a slot for a micro-HDMI cable, which could enable it to connect to high resolution external display
article-0-167B6897000005DC-973_634x475

The phone is currently under going final stages of testing in about 50 labs around the world including Nigeria.
RIM plans to release its next generation masterpiece smartphones on January 30 2013. Just in time for Valentine…lol!

5 Ways To Impress Your Woman In The Bedroom

a45dcb0e0367f1ce79652a119b604f26

Being able to decipher the fine line between moans of pleasures or groaning with discomfort is vital.

This is one question to which every guy seems to have an answer and yet, most men find themselves lost, trying to figure out why their woman didn’t react as enthusiastically they had imagined. The problem lies in men perceiving séx in a very typical, miniscule way. While many try to ape maneuvers preached in prohibited content accessible on the web, the more intellectual types turn to books and weird yogic postures. Somehow, people forget that most problems have a rather simple solution, i.e. in doing the basics right. This article tries to decode what can be done to impress your girl in bed without trying something extreme or ridiculous.
Fool Around, Mix-up & Experiment with Foreplay

Most women like to be teased before actually committing to the act of séx. You can understand it as a kind of comprehensive foreplay which includes everything from kissing her slightly, giving her those typical lewd looks, passing comments about the size of her breasts or her shapely outline.
Anything that can physically or psychologically stimulate her is good enough. This form of foreplay extends even when initiating séx. The idea should be to prolong the foreplay before doing it, getting her excited to the maximum.
This includes something as simple as whispering your wildest fantasies in her ears, breathing heavily and licking the insides of her ears and cupping the insides of her thighs as you verbally detail your intentions of munching upon every part of her chocolaty body.
Try to Listen to Her Body

An inherent part of being good in bed is to being able to decipher what she wants. If you cannot decode what is making her uncomfortable or what turns her on, impressing your girl in the bed could be a major challenge. For this, you need to become a lot more perceptive.
Being able to decipher the fine line between moans of pleasures or groaning with discomfort is vital. For instance, using the fingers to pleasure a girl is common. However, some women might not react encouragingly to this. Basically, you need to back down from what becomes more painful rather than pleasurable.
Initiate Séx when Least Expects to Impress Her in Bed

Initiating séx in typical environments like your bedroom or getting it on during the same time slots can make séx predictable. You need to understand that the surroundings or situations in which you make love have a lot to do to the degree she can be turned-on.
For instance, you might be planning to impress her in the bed tonight, but rather than initiating the foreplay after reaching home, get started prematurely. When she is about to leave office, you can SMS provocative messages to her. When she is seated in the car, caress her thighs, every time you make a stop at the traffic light.
You can also change the backdrop for getting intimate. Try to initiate séx at the most unexpected moments. For instance, during early mornings, start cozying up to her, rubbing her back or caressing her breasts while she is still asleep. For many women, this combination of sleepy haze and being caressed by their men is an instant, erotic high.
Make Her Feel Desired like a Séxual Goddess

Many women get disappointed since men make séx dependent upon some fixed parameters. For instance, having your girl naked, within the confines of your locked room might be the rules that you have unintentionally established. However, you can seriously impress your girl in bed, if you are ready to think out of the box.
For example, ask her to cook wearing the tiniest of lingerie gowns. Make her do teeny-weeny bits of housework wearing something that hardly covers her. She should feel your gaze on her body. By the time you catch hold of her and head to the bedroom, she would be clawing the clothes off your body. This is a perfect example of how séxuality is primarily in our minds. If your girl is convinced that you just cannot get enough of her, she will never be disappointed in the bed.
Tease Her Shamelessly Before Bedding Her

Yes, some people regard teasing as an inherent part of foreplay. Some examples of the same have been listed above too. However, where stimulating foreplay ends, unashamed séxual teasing begins. There are many ways do this. Ideally, this should be done when you haven’t indicated to her about your intentions of having séx.
dating65525
For instance, you guys are in the lift, headed to an office party and she is wearing a graceful saree or any dress that slightly exposes her mid-riff. Slither your hands all over her bare waist, clenching her flesh with your fingers. When at the party, distance yourself from her. Start texting her about the different men who are staring at her. Be very detailed in what part of her they are staring at and why. By the time you guys are headed back, she would be more eager than you to get it on in the bed. Here, you have guaranteed that you will impress her in bed by blatantly arousing her.

27 prison inmates released in Ekiti

Ado-Ekiti – The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Ayodeji Daramola, on Friday ordered the release of 27 inmates who have been on awaiting trial list for a long time.

naija prison

He gave the order during an official visit to Ado-Ekiti Federal Prison in Ado-Ekiti.

Daramola, who also granted bail to seven inmates, expressed dismay at the congestion in cells in the state.

He criticised the inadequate facilities in all the prisons.

“Today we have attended to 292 cases awaiting trial; 27 were released outright and seven others were granted bail, based on unfounded claim of offence, health condition and long stay in detention without any evidence to try them,’’ Daramola said.

In an interview with journalists, the chief judge said the aim of the visit was to remove congestion in the prison.

“We visited the prison to ensure that those detained are justifiably detained,’’ he said.

He said the judicial system needed to be reformed to make prisons serve the purpose for which they were established.

Daramola called for cooperation between Ekiti State Judiciary and officials of the Nigeria Prison Service, Ekiti command.

He said such partnership would facilitate speedy processing of cases and help to eliminate congestion in prisons.

The Comptroller of Prisons in Ekiti State, Mr Tajudeen Aremu, said prisons officials would always cooperate with the state judiciary.

Aremu appealed to other stakeholders and agencies to assist his command in the area of infrastructure and sponsorship of workshops to facilitate operation. (NAN)

During my wild days in the university nine years ago I had a brief fling with a guy I met through a friend.

We had séx a few times and saw each other for about a month before we lost touch. Fast forward eight years later; my immediate younger sister introduced this same guy to me as her boyfriend. I was hoping they would break up so he wouldn’t be an issue between my sister and I but that didn’t happen.

A year later, they are getting married. Their wedding is actually this Saturday December 15th. There’s  serious friction between the guy and I as we can’t even look at each other or talk directly to each other. I have been avoiding him since he hooked up with my sister but now that they are about to be married,
I’m stuck.Should I tell my sister what happened between us or leave things the way they are?

Does she have a right to know?
I’m confused. Pls help!!!

11 Yr Old Calabar Girl Gets Pregnant For Five Boys

It was a shocking story to the parents and neighbours of an 11 year old girl and pupil of Ikorenim Primary School in Calabar, Cross River State, Ekamen Asuquo, when a pregnancy test that was conducted on her at the General Hospital, Calabar revealed that she was carrying a four-month pregnancy.

pregnant-belly1

The mother of the primary five pupil, who resides at 2, Pipeline Road, Ikorenim had suspected pregnancy, going by the symptoms exhibited by the teenage girl, who was sick for a while as she decided to take her to the hospital after she failed to get well, despite long period of self medication.

The mother was rattled when it was discovered that the girl was pregnant after some tests.

A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said “She has been at home for the past two months always complaining of one ailment or the other and the mother had to take her to the General Hospital after home medication could not heal her in the hope that she could be treated there.”

The neighbour, said when the teenage girl was confronted by her mother, who allegedly sells hot drinks and illicit drugs over who was responsible for the pregnancy, she mentioned one Tony, one of the boys that patronises her mother’s hot drinking joint.

However, the source hinted that when Tony was confronted, he said “He was the one who dated the teenage girl first but another customer, Jones snatched her from him and when Jones was confronted, he said he had since stopped dating the girl and mentioned another person, who when also confronted, mentioned another boy and at the last count, the number was five.”

It was gathered that the mother was infuriated when her daughter confirmed that she slept with all the boys mentioned and could not actually tell who was responsible. It was also gathered that two of the boys mentioned were tenants living in the woman’s house.

Out of annoyance, “She has since asked the two young men living in her house to quit but they are asking for time to secure another accommodation before they can vacate the house.”

When the distraught mother was asked what she was going to do with the daughter’s predicament, tears rolled down her cheek, as she said “I leave everything to God.”

When the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr John Umoh, was contacted, he said the incident had not been reported to the police.

“We will buy Lionel Messi in January and surprise you!” — Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger has once again come out in defence of his faltering Arsenal side.

Arsenal+v+Fulham+-+Premier+League1-300x199
The Frenchman answered critics who claimed this is his worst ever team, after the misery of the Gunners’ worst ever start to a Premier League season was added to by their humilating exit from the Capital One Cup at the hands of League Two Bradford City.

The 62-year-old insisted he actually won more trophies with a group of players who were not as focused as his current crop at the Emirates.

Wenger told reporters at his Friday press conference: “I have had groups who had fantastic results who were less serious than these players, believe me. We won trophies with players who were less focused than this team.

“Of course these players are hurting. You think they don’t care and they go home [after Bradford] and think they had a fantastic game? They do care.

“We have not kicked on, that’s true. But we have rebuilt a team this year and we’ll see where we finish.”

Wenger urged a sense of perspective and pointed to the club’s achievement of consistently qualifying for Champions League football.

“At the moment, we have qualified for the Champions League knock-out stages for 13 years on the trot. When I listen to you [the media], it must be a mistake there – ‘Why is this team in this spot?’ It sounds like we should be in the Championship.
“At the moment, you have to take a little bit of distance before making a definite judgement on what we are capable of doing.
“No other team has done that in the Champions League. At the moment we are not happy with what we have produced. But we will turn it around before the end of the season.”

Wenger also mounted a spirited defence of his recent additions to the Arsenal squad. Despite the almost unanimous consent that the likes of Marouane Chamakh, Gervinho and Sebastien Squillaci are not up to the Gunners’ usual standard, Wenger refused to accept the criticism.
“Who are the big buys?” questioned Wenger. “How much? He [Gervinho] was £8 million. Gervinho is a good player, yes. But I don’t want to go into individual assessments.

“Chamakh was a big buy? He was free. Squillaci, nearly free.

“You cannot say that we have a squad of no quality. They are international players.”

Arsenal have the fourth highest wage bill in the Premier League but Wenger insists the club simply operate in a different league from those above them.

He continued: “First of all, you don’t know their wages. Secondly, you accuse us of not paying the wages the players want and on the other hand you accuse [us] of giving them the money they want.

“If you are in that situation, then it’s because we are in the Champions League and we can produce the money.

“And secondly we are under pressure from Man City, Man United and Chelsea [who] pay three times more the highest wages than us to pay the players these wages.

“We live in a competitive world. If they want to sign here, they can say, ‘I can get three times more there’.”

Having fielded criticism of his team and signings, the beleaguered Frenchman ended his press conference on a light note, suggesting that Arsenal fans could look forward to a big January acquistion.

He added: “What do you call big [in terms of a signing]?

“We will buy Lionel Messi in January and surprise you!”

Singer Tiwa Banks Is Recovering And Tells About Her Experience

Tiwa Bankole, the singer who was allegedly stabbed by her landlord’s son, Tobi Obadina, has said she thought she was going to die.

Tobi-Tiwa-and-Olaniyi-360x248
According to her, Tobi constantly harasses tenants and gets away with it.

“When he was stabbing me, I started bleeding profusely and I thought I was going to die,” she said.

Bankole, who spoke with our correspondent on her hospital bed at Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos on Thursday, said she did nothing to warrant the attack.

“Tobi said no one could arrest him and nothing would happen to him. Because his father is a retired police officer and his stepmother, a policewoman, he always gets away with his misdeeds,” she said.

Bankole, who goes by the pseudonym, T Banks, described her assailant, Tobi, as a hot-tempered boy, who had on many occasions assaulted tenants at their 20 Yusuf Street home.

She said she had reported the 23-year-old boy to his father on many occasions but the landlord always ignored her.

She said, “I’ve been living in the house since 2005 with my brothers. Although the landlord lives in the same building with us, Tobi does not. He was one of my younger brothers’ friend and even used to come to our room. Some months ago, I wanted to use the toilet but Tobi blocked my way, threatening to beat me.

“After a brief argument, neighbours advised me to enter my room and ignore him which I did. I reported the matter to my dad who later reported the matter to the landlord.

“The landlord told my dad that Tobi had not been to the house in three years and that I was lying. The landlord even insinuated that Tobi and I were having a relationship.

“There is no way I could have a relationship with Tobi because I’m about 10 years older than him. My father however advised me to stay away from the boy. I have been avoiding him but he continued to cause trouble in the neighbourhood,” Bankole said.

The singer said on the day she was brutally stabbed by Tobi, she was going to fetch water in the compound when he accosted her and started cursing her.

She said she ignored him but it seemed Tobi’s attitude further infuriated him.

Bankole alleged that Tobi followed her into her room where he stabbed her and her younger brother, Olaniyi, repeatedly.

She said, “Tobi insulted me, saying that he was going to get married soon while I am still a spinster at my age. He hit me in the back and an argument ensued. My younger brother however pulled me back into the house but Tobi continued to curse us. We cursed him also and this infuriated him.

“He poured a bucket of water into our room through the window and he later broke the louvres. He threatened to deal with us. In the evening, he barged into our room with a broken tumbler and said since we had refused to come out and face him, he would kill us.

“I was able to push him to the ground as he attempted to stab my brother in the back. He stabbed my brother in the hands but he (my brother) was able to escape. As I was left alone with Tobi, he stabbed me repeatedly in the neck, hands and other parts of my body.”

PUNCH Metro learnt that another neighbour, Sola Ajayi, who intervened, was also stabbed in the process.

Tobi’s father, Ebenezer Obadina, however, dissociated himself from the incident.

He said he had warned his son to turn a new leaf and had done his best as a father.

According to him, he was sleeping when the incident occurred and did not even know that Tobi was on the premises.

“I am 76 years old and Tobi is my last child. I’ve been advising him to change his ways but he never listens. I had no hand in what happened and in fact, I was the one that got him arrested after the incident,” he said.

Tobi, it was learnt, is still being detained at Gowon Police Division.

Man Stabs Landlady’s Son To Death Over N50

The police in Lagos, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have arrested an okada rider identified as Igali for stabbing a landlady’s son, Demola Talabi, to death.

The middle-aged Igali allegedly used a screw driver to stab Talabi on the neck and other parts of his body.

The victim slumped and died due to excessive bleeding.

The 42-year old Talabi from Ogun State and married with two kids, was said to be trying to mediate in an argument between Igali and a passenger over N50.

According to Talabi’s younger brother, Ayo, the incident occurred at Osho Street, Opebi and they (members of his family) were contacted. Before he got to the scene, his brother had died due to excessive bleeding.

The body has been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) mortuary for autopsy report.

A witness told P.M.NEWS that the late Talabi was on a visit to his mother’s house at 14, Irewole Street, Opebi, when he met the okada man and a passenger arguing over N50 fare.

He was said to be trying to settle the matter when Igali brought out a screw driver and stabbed him several times.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Ikeja Police Station.

When P.M.NEWS visited the station, the suspect was in the cell.

The DPO was said to be in a meeting when our reporter sought to speak with him.

Police sources confirmed that the matter would soon be transferred to the SCID, Panti, Yaba.

At her mother’s residence in Irewole Street, sympathisers were consoling the bereaved mother and Talabi’s wife.

Residents expressed shock over Talabi’s death and described him as a hard working man.

I Have 3 Wives And 20 Girlfriends- 86 Year Old Musician Fatai Rolling Dollar Speaks

86-year-old musician Fatai Rolling Dollar who rose to fame after his “won kere si number wa” track in a recent interview talks about his family and marriage.

fatai
What was your childhood like?

I was very rascally. Oh yes, when I was growing up, I was an original rascal.

And women loved you then?

Yes, they loved me because of my job. You know women love musicians. Apart from that, I was very handsome when I was much younger. I was light-skinned.

Tell us about your love life?

I’m admired by lots of women because I’m strong.

Where is the source of your strength?

God almighty is the source of my strength. I don’t smoke weed, I don’t take medicine but I smoke cigarette (he says, puffing hard on his cigarette). My strength is from God and can you imagine that today, all over the world, I’m the oldest musician that is still playing on the stage?

Why are you this strong even in your old age?

You know, there is something somebody should not take when he becomes old. I don’t take meat, for instance. I’m off beer as well. But my major problem is women (he paused for a while, gazing up at the writer).

But you said you admire women a lot, how are they then your major problem?

I still say it that women are my major problem. I love them so much. You don’t blame me for that; after all, my mother is a woman and I loved her so much and she loved me.

So, women are problems to me, especially when I see the beautiful ones. I admire them a lot and that admiration is from the bottom of my heart. Do you know I have a daughter of two years from my third wife?

That goes to show how much I love women. Look at me, at my age, I’m stile agile and I’m still producing (giggles).

Are you romantic?

Yes I am, don’t I look it? At 86, I’m still very romantic. If I meet a woman who is not romantic, I would teach her to be romantic. I will teach the person the A, B, C of romance. lol.

How many wives do you have?

I have two black women and one white woman. You know I travel a lot, so I met my white wife abroad and I married her.

Do you have a girlfriend now?

Yes, I have. I have up to 20.

Twenty? How are you able to be with all of them?

No, there is no sex in the relationship. We just stay together and I advise them. They bring goodies to me. You know women have power to bring good things. They have the power to open good doors of success. That is why we can’t do without them.

Meet Oliver, The Baby Who Was Born On 12/12/12 At 12:12pm

Many people consider 12/12/12 to be a lucky or evil day depending on which side of the divide you stand but miss MacLennan, 34, an admin worker at an investment bank, and her husband, Andrew Talmage, 39, who works in car restoration, will always remember the day as a joyous and memorable one because their second son, Oliver Talmage was born on that date.

Oliver+Talmage+who+was+born+at+the+hospital+in+Essex+at+12.12pm

Oliver Talmage: Born On 12/12/12 At 12:12pm

Astonishingly, the newborn was also delivered at 12.12pm.

The question is, does that make Oliver the anti-christ because his own date and timing is strange to say the least. If you recall, a lot of superstitious meanings were attached to the date 12/12/12 with some news reports claiming that a boy who turned 12-years on that day is the anti-christ.

But this particular news should spook those who believe in the myth associated with the date otherwise it is just another ordinary day.

A-list robbery kingpins, police serial killers meet Waterloo…after terrorising Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti for years

The long arm of the law has finally caught up with two men suspected to be the leaders of the armed gangs that attacked a branch of First Bank in Ekiti State and the World Oil Petrol Station in Ibafo, Ogun State, a few months ago.

Ejike Mbogu and Ayomide Oyebanji were said to have been arrested by the police in Lagos after an intensive search.

Also, eight other suspected robbers, Gbenga Oni, Taofeek Mumuni, Ogbonnaya Ekweye, Kundus Adetono, Yemi Ayodeji, Shola Ayodele, Gani Moshood and Seyi Aluko, all of who allegedly had participated in some major robbery attacks in the South-West, are currently in the custody of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja, Lagos.

Another suspected robber, Seun Adegboyega, aka Dada, was shot dead during a raid in Ikotun.

Three policemen reportedly lost their lives in the robbery in Ekiti, which occurred sometime in May 2012 and lasted about an hour. An undisclosed amount of money was said to have been stolen by the robbers during the attack.

Also, the robbery at the petrol station in Ibafo claimed the lives of two policemen. Both of them were shot when a gang of daredevil robbers invaded the station.

CRIME DIGEST learnt that three other policemen were killed when the same gang of robbers struck in the Oke-Itoku area of Abeokuta.

On Sept. 10, the gang robbed several bureau de change operators in Agege, Anthony, Ojodu, Itire, Ikeja and Ilasamaja  areas of Lagos, killing three policemen and a commercial bus driver.

The end came for Mbogu and Ayodeji about three weeks ago when a Honda car allegedly stolen in Akute, Ogun State, was traced to the former’s aged mother in Anambra State.

Assisted by Mbogu’s brother, a team of policemen from SARS in Lagos succeeded in apprehending the suspected gangster in a hotel in Ikotun. Led by Superintendent Abba Kyari, the team found Mbogu in company with five other members of his gang. In the ensuing stampede, three members of the gang managed to escape.

Mbogu was arrested, but not before he was shot while trying to disarm one of the policemen. Dada was killed as he tried to escape.

On his part, Ayodeji was allegedly responsible for organising most of the major robberies which occurred in the Ikotun/Igando areas of Lagos state this year. “Ayodele is my friend; he lives at Ikotun and usually brings information about thriving businesses in the area.  I got to know him as a building developer when I came in the guise of an Omo oni ile (land speculator) to a site he was supervising. We robbed a Coca-Cola depot at Liasu Road; I got N120,000 as my share in that operation. We robbed a super mart at Igando and a turkey cold room at Liasu road. Most of the robberies at Liasu Road were carried out by our gang,” Ayodeji confessed.

On the other hand, Oyebanji’s gang is believed to be responsible for most of the robbery attacks that have taken place in Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah.

Leading the attacks himself alongside four other members on the run, Oyebanji allegedly dispossessed residents of the island of their cars, money and other valuables. CRIME DIGEST gathered that in one of such incidents, two policemen on guard at a home in VI were killed in a shootout with the robbers.

In an interview with our correspondent, Mbogu confessed that he was lured into armed robbery four years after he moved to Lagos.

He said, “I moved to Lagos after my father’s death and started earning a living as an apprentice to my brother who sold refrigerator parts in Mushin.  For a while, things were difficult. Then I met one Segun in Surulere. He claimed to be a soldier. I noticed that he lived on the fast lane and he was not alone. All the boys who moved with him also lived on the fast lane. Although I didn’t know it, Segun was an ex-convict.

“One day after we got talking, Segun invited me for a drink with his boys. He asked me if I had been involved in any crime of any sort. When I answered in the negative, he said I didn’t have the required experience for the kind of work he did. So, he assigned me to pick pockets alongside Opeyemi. For some weeks, I would steal wallets and other valuables during rush hours.

“Segun monitored my progress regularly. Later, I was allowed to drive them on a motorcycle whenever they wanted to snatch handbags. Most of our victims were sales girls going to the bank to deposit or withdraw money.

“Eventually, Segun relocated to Cotonou with some members of his gang when the police were on their trail. By then, I had established contacts with other robbers and one arms supplier known as Tochukwu.”

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr. Umaru Manko, confirmed the arrests.

“Ever since his involvement in the Wema Bank robbery at Dopemu in 2008, Oyebanji has long been on the wanted list of the police. About 15 armed robbers participated in that robbery attack and 13 of them were arrested. Oyebanji and one other member of the group had been on the run since then.

“Oyebanji’s gang was responsible for the bullion van robbery in Badagry about five months ago. A police sergeant and three other civilians were killed during the attack.

“Oyebanji was arrested last week after he was sighted by a source around Iyana-Ipaja. A SARS team led by Kyari trailed him to Oshodi. He was shot while trying to escape arrest while a receiver of stolen goods, Muyiwa, who was with him at the time, was also arrested,” Manko said.

Oyebanji was said to have made confessional statements which led to the discovery of eight AK-47 rifles belonging to the policemen who were killed in the Ekiti, Badagry and Ibafo robbery attacks.

One English pump action, and 25 magazines loaded, with 30 rounds of ammunition, were also found hidden in a Nissan Almera car which was parked in a mechanic’s workshop at Apapa Road, Oyingbo.

One pump action an AK-47 rifle, two locally-made double-barrelled shotguns, two assault rifles and 10 AK-47 magazines (fully loaded), were also recovered from the gang’s former armoury at Ifo when Aluko led a SARS team to the hideout. Unfortunately, most of the guns and ammunition had been taken away to be used in a robbery attack the same day.

I’m not under pressure to get married –D’Banj

D’Banj, won’t be walking down the aisle too soon. This is authoritative.

Contrary to the expectation of his fans, who think that he is ripe and rich enough to call it quits with bachelorhood, the self-styled Kokomaster seems determined not to budge until the right time comes.

“I believe there is someone for everyone. So there must be a Miss Right somewhere for me, but let’s not go about breaking people’s heart. I will get married when it is God’s time. The month, year or date is what I cannot disclose for now. Let’s just put it this way; my wedding is coming soon.

“I want my well-wishers to guess if she is going to be a Nigerian or foreigner. However, the most important thing to me is to marry a woman who will not fry my heart for supper, lunch or breakfast.

“I am not under any pressure from my parents to get married and start producing children. I am fortunate in the sense that my parents know too well as much as I do that marriage is not something a man and a woman should rush into; the couple have to be emotionally compatible and spiritually ready to live under the same roof for the rest of their lives and be fully committed to each other through thick and thin.”

Premium Times Top ten Nigerian hits of 2012

These songs undoubtedly kept Nigerians dancing in 2012; they are arguably Nigeria’s top ten hit songs.
 10. Oyato, D’Banj – The pop star’s follow up to his 2011 hit song “Oliver Twist” was initially met with mixed review. Fans and critics of the erstwhile Mo’Hits front man considered it a huge deviation from his usual sound. However, overtime Oyato managed to find its place as one of the most played songs on radio. It’s juju leanings and D’banj’s harmonica rift further establishes as a classic for the ages.
9. Bottom belle, Omawumi feat. Flavour – The highlife inspired song was one of the first singles from any artiste in 2012. To pull off this number, Omawumi recruited the highlife king himself, Flavour. The song, a modern impression of a classic song had us reminiscing ad dancing at the same time
8. My dear (Dammy Krane): Tuface’s protégé managed to dish out a song that predicts big things for him in 2013. However, the best place to enjoy this song is to watch Dammy Krane perform it live, you would be more than entertained- you would be entranced!
7. Your waist (Iyanya): The second hit for Iyanya was filled with more mumbo-jumbo than the first but as usual it was the beat we were more concerned about.
6. Kedike (Chidinma Ekile): Chidinma Ekile’s soaring voice saw her crowned as the first female winner of Project Face and the third since the show’s inception. Kedike, her second single is a love song that has you feeling good in all the right places.
5. Ihe Neme (Tuface): Off Tuface’s fourth album, Away and Beyond, this song slowly crept up on us. After the album release, its official single, Steady Steady was soon dethroned by Ihe Neme. The beat, reminiscent of 80’s Nigerian pop songs, always had the club literally hopping. Unlike most songs on this list, this song actually has meaningful lyrics that you can sing without feeling like you are chanting along to some dibia’s mumbo-jumbo incantation.
4. Shake your Bumbum (Timaya): This dancehall song with his raunchy lyrics was a departure from Timaya’s usual self-aggrandizing songs. The video is totally NSFW!
3. Chop My Money ft Akon and May D (P Square): This remix brought back one of the top singles of 2011. The video didn’t hurt the song either. Everyone eagerly waits for the part in the song where May D goes “Ha! Girl, the love wey I get for you na Jackie Chan! Wu Cha!” And then karate chop the air! A veritable club banger this one was!
2. Gaga Crazy (Chuddy K)- For the greater part of the second quarter of the year, we were all going Gaga Crazy and screeching along to Chuddy K’s falsetto – ha ha ha ha ha, oh yeah!!! The video for this song is also one of the best of the year, with a great concept and storyline. The infective beat which goes with the Azonto dance always gets us dancing no matter where we are. You start with your shoulders and next you know, you are on your feet! The song also had lots of catchy lyrics to chant along to “O to’jo meta”, “Sugar cane no be bamboo,” “Dance like Sunita” and especially “Forget about your Mary-Kay!”
1. Kukere (Iyanya) – Undisputedly, the biggest hit so far for the premier winner of the MTN Project music reality show. After the competition, Iyanya released his debut album, Love Song, an all but forgotten project that showed off his RnB leanings and great voice. After a two-year hiatus and a careful study of the Nigerian music scene, Iyanya hit us with Kukere and we were finally blown away. The dance hall and sukus-influenced single included the nonsense lyrics that Nigerians have come to embrace as a music staple. Within a couple of months, the accompanying video reached one million views on Youtube. The hard beat and etighi dance steps in the video went further to establish this song as the number 1 hit of 2012.

Death Penalty For Terrorists – National Assembly

The National Assembly  on Thursday agreed that any terrorist act that results in the death of another Nigerian would carry a death penalty.
This is contained in the report by the conference committee of the National Assembly that harmonised the different versions of the amendment bill passed by both chambers.
The Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2011 (Amendment) Bill, 2012 was passed  by the House of Representatives on October 11 and by the Senate on Wednesday, October 17.
Presenting the committee’s report on the floor of the Senate on Thursday, Chairman, Senate Committee on National Security and   Intelligence, Senator Mohammed Magoro, said, “Clause 2 amends Section 1 of the Principal Act,  which deals with ‘prohibition of acts of terrorism’ in general.
“The Senate version prescribes life imprisonment for offences under this clause, while the House version prescribes death penalty. After deliberations, the House version was adopted by the conference committee.”
“Section 1(2) of the House’s version states that “a person or body who knowingly in or outside Nigeria directly or indirectly willingly does, attempt or threatens any act of terrorism…commits an offence under this Act and is liable on conviction to a maximum of death sentence”.
The committee adopted the Senate’s  new section 17 which provides a minimum of 20 years imprisonment for act of conspiracy, whereas the House had recommended life imprisonment.
Both  chambers also  agreed to a new section 18 to a life imprisonment for aiding and  abetting acts of terrorism, though it was moderated by a clause which recommended 20 years where the  act was not committed.
However, the Senate could not adopt the report on Thursday because some signatures of members of the committee were missing.
Magoro was asked to return the document for members to endorse it before it would be passed.
Meanwhile, security experts say the absence of a coordinating authority for the counter-terrorism fight may hinder the efforts of security agencies to stop terrorism in the country.
They also believe that the  amended bill on terrorism passed by the National Assembly was politicised and lacked the bite the law enforcement agencies need to prosecute terrorism offenders.
A senior security officer said, “The implication of this is that there is no central coordinating authority as the various security agencies would not submit their operations, intelligence and findings to a central authority as it obtains in other countries fighting terrorism.”
Also a former Security Adviser to River State Government, Chief Sara-Igbe said the anti-terrorism bill was not watertight enough, adding that until the loopholes in the law were closed through an amendment, the counter-terrorism war would continue to be frustrated.
He called on President Jonathan to send an amendment quickly, saying the lawmakers who passed the bill were “novices who don’t understand the dynamics of terrorism.”

Five siblings, aged 4 – 12, die in Lagos fire

Five children between the ages of four and 12 were killed in an inferno in the Kirikiri area of Lagos State on Thursday.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that the five children, Emeka 12, Ifeanyi 10, Chinasa eight, Joy six, and Bright four, who are of the same parents, were burnt alive at their home located at 29 Comfort Oboh Street, Kirikiri.

The parents of the victims were identified as Ogbonna and Margaret Igwuagwu.

Our correspondent learnt that although over 30 people live in the compound, which was completely consumed by the fire, only the five children died.

Sympathisers were said to have surrounded the premises crying and wailing over the incident, while charred remains of the victims were being evacuated.

According to residents, the fire started at about 11.30 pm in the room where the five children were sleeping and later spread to other rooms all made of wood.

The parents of the children were said to have locked them inside the room and lit a candle for them as there was no electricity supply.

Neighbours said it was the usual habit of the parents to lock the children inside the room whenever they were going to their shop in the evening.

It was learnt that the children slept off while the candle fell, thereby spreading the fire to other parts of the room. Woken by the heat, they were said to have shouted for help while the fire raged, but neighbours were too busy saving themselves.

One of the neighbours said the eldest son, Emeka, had begged his parents not to lock them in but allow them to spend sometime outside but their mother refused.

“I can vividly remember when Mama Emeka ordered her children to go and sleep, saying that she needed to go back to attend to customers who were waiting for her. Emeka, the eldest, pleaded that they should be allowed to stay outside for a while.

“She insisted that they should go to bed since they were to travel the following day.  I believe that it was in a bid to prevent them from running out of the house that she locked them inside and went away with the key,” she said.

Some neighbours told journalists that they heard the wailing of the children when the fire was raging, but could not break through to rescue them due to a hard burglar proof that was used at the entrance of the room.

According to residents who witnessed the incident,  firefighters were informed but could not get to the scene  due to bad roads in Kirirkiri.

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “The road is not passable and there is always traffic congestion in that area. Men of the Naval Fire Service got here first, but they could not help the situation because the damage had already been done.”

One of the tenants, Udoh Bassey, whose room was also burnt, told journalists that no one could say exactly what caused the fire.

“It started at about 11.30 pm when some of us were still awake. It was the cry from that room that attracted my attention. The entire compound was razed down before help could come our way. I was able to save a few of my property because my room was located far away from the source of the fire.

“The children died because their parents locked them inside the house and went back to their shops close by. We tried but before we could reach them, there was an explosion from one room to the other as all the other rooms were razed down.”

When contacted, spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said the parents of the victims had suffered shock and were rushed to hospital.

“At about 11.20pm, police received a call that a house in Kirikiri was on fire. The house was made of wood and corrugated iron sheets and the fire engulfed it. Five children died in the fire,” she said.
