Dear men, can you break your penis during sex?

I read this weird story on TMZ about an MMA fighter who broke his penis during sex and had to be rushed to the hospital.
MMA fighter Ray Elbe – who competed on “Ultimate Fighter 9″ — had to be rushed to a hospital in Malaysia earlier this month and required 10 stitches … after he broke his penis during sex.
Elbe told the whole story – in painfully graphic detail – on an MMA website … explaining how he was having sex with his GF, who was “on top” … when she bounced a little too high, and crunched Ray’s erect penis.
Ouch! Lol. Read the rest after the cut…

.......67

According to Ray, his penis “fractured” … and “blood was everywhere.” Ray says he immediately passed out from the pain.

Ray says he was rushed to a nearby hospital … and underwent emergency surgery to close the wound and repair a “slight tear” in his urinary tube.

Elbe says the pain was so severe after the surgery, his johnson was “throbbing with each heart beat.”

Elbe says he expects to make a full recovery — and was ordered to take “anti-erection pills” for two weeks.

The fighter says he learned a hard lesson from the experience — and will never let his GF be “on top” ever again.

Elbe also explained, “In an attempt to make it up to me … [my GF] has promised me a threesome of my choice when we get to the Philippines … which usually has some solid talent.”

Report: Navy helicopter was on its 15th trip of the day when it crashed on Saturday

by Isi Esene

Helicopter-crash

There are indications that the Augusta 109 Naval Helicopter which crashed in Bayelsa State on Saturday killing six people was on its fifteenth trip of the day.

According to sources, the helicopter had been shuttling between Okoroba and Port Harcourt, Rivers State, carrying guests to and fro the venue of the burial of the father of President Goodluck Jonathan’s aide, Oronto Douglas, in Okoroba.

Patrick Yakowa, the Kaduna State governor, Gen. Andrew Azazi (retd.), the former National Security Adviser (NSA) and four others died in the crash.

A source said, “The helicopter was made available for the use of guests at the funeral. One thing I can say is that it was going on its 15th trip when it crashed. I cannot say whether this could affect the performance of the helicopter.”

Addressing doubts expressed by observers over the airworthiness of the aircraft, the Nigerian Navy had at a press conference on Monday said the helicopter was airworthy.

The Navy, through its spokesman, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogbor, reportedly said the crashed helicopter had more than 80 flight hours before its next scheduled routine maintenance.

According to Ogbor, “When the aircraft crashed, it was having more than 80 flight hours before the next scheduled routine maintenance.”

He added that the captain in command had flown more than 800 hours, while the co-pilots had flown over 300 hours.

“The Nigerian Navy will not want to pre-empt the findings of the investigations. All our pilots are trained in the best aviation institutions all over the world.

“An accident investigating team has been set up to probe the immediate and remote cause of the crash. Members of the team include aircraft investigation specialists, Augusta Westland (the manufacturers of the aircraft) and other aviation regulatory agencies as provided for by extant regulations,” he explained.

The Nigerian Navy has also defended the use of the helicopter during the funeral of Pa Douglas, saying the naval helicopters were employed in “multi-role military operations.”

These roles, it said, included surveillance, logistic support at sea, search and rescue and medical evacuation.

No one listens to me! – TB Joshua laments that he foretold the tragic deaths of Yakowa, Azazi (WATCH)

Prophet T.B. Joshua, not one to stay on the side-lines allegedly claimed to have foreseen the death of Kaduna State governor, Patrick Yakowa who died in a helicopter accident with former National Security Adviser, Andrew Owoye Azazi, and four others.

No one listens to me! – TB Joshua laments that he foretold the tragic deaths of Yakowa, Azazi (WATCH)

On Sunday December 16, 2012, Joshua spoke to a live audience on Emmanuel TV, he explained how God showed him the incident, which he conveyed in a message to the nation after series of prophetic revelations that started in January 2011. The prophetic message has since been uploaded to Joshua’s official YouTube channel and posted on his Facebook account to over 500,000 fans.

“I see the blood of personalities flowing,” Joshua said on Sunday January 2, 2011. “This is a government personality. They should not enter the same plane and say they are flying from one state to another for any reason in this country. There is danger. This is a plane crash.”

On July 15, 20112, he added further insight to the revelation, saying, “Those people who matter in society, they should not go inside the plane, together in one plane because I see satan wants to destroy these people who matter in society…” Joshua specified that six individuals would be involved. “They begin to mention one, two, three, four, five, six people who matter in society, high profile. The enemy is looking for a time when they will enter a plane together and be on the air.”

On September 23, 2012, Joshua sent one of his ‘Wise Men’ to deliver a message, stating that he had seen the flag of Nigeria being lowered, calling on Nigerians to join in prayer to avert the tragedy that would result in this. Then, on October 27th 2012, Joshua himself specified further about the incident that would cause the lowering of Nigeria’s flag, stating that he saw a governor flying with his aide. He said, “Everyone should come together on their knees and pray for the nation. Where will these people go, you, Governor, and you put yourself inside a plane and go together with your aide? Where are they going? They should not put themselves inside the same plane, aircraft and go. I’m seeing this thing is very close.”

After the tragic helicopter crash on Saturday December 15 that saw the death of 6 Nigerians, many online observers that followed Joshua’s ministry stated that they remembered his prediction when it was spoken on Emmanuel TV, lamenting that the government officials had not taken it seriously.

After playing back the clips of the prophetic revelations, Joshua spoke to the congregation, stating that he even went to the extent of reaching out to Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan to warn him of the impending disaster. He stated that the nation should have entered a period of national fasting for the tragedy to be averted but that people were not taking the prophetic messages seriously.

He then explained how the prophetic gift of God in his life was a tool that was supposed to be utilised and valued rather than neglected. He reminded congregants how this prophetic gift started from the onset of his ministry, specifying an occasion where he personally met the late Chief MKO Abiola during his election campaign and bluntly told him that he did not see him on the throne, despite his popularity and overwhelming support at that period. Joshua said as he was leaving, Abiola sent a large sum of money to him which he refused to take, maintaining that his gift was from God who was more than able to supply his needs.

Joshua has thus called on those in power to publicly call on all those who claimed to have prophetic powers to submit their revelations for the upcoming year to those in authority, as a test of legitimacy. Joshua called on US President Barack Obama to spearhead this arrangement, stating that as government leaders had advisors in every field of life, they also needed spiritual advisors to tell them what the future holds, something impossible to achieve with mere ‘brain power’.

It was also revealed in the service that the tragic massacre of school children in Connecticut, USA was also seen by Joshua. After the movie-theatre shooting in Colorado, he stated on Sunday August 6 that the wave of gun-related massacres would continue to increase, stressing that America needed to pray for their ‘homeland security’.

Chelsea wins, Messi breaks record – The top 10 sporting moments of 2012

It has been another great year in Sports. Whether it in Tennis, Basketball, Football or Athletics, the intensity, drama and suspense, held us helplessly captive. Great feats were achieved, records have been broken and new heroes have emerged.
So, what achievements made the top 10 for 2012?

City_EPL_2012
1. Chelsea winning the Champions League
Yes. It was written in the stars. That Chelsea will win the 2011/2012 Champions League, against Bayern Munich, on their home turf. What a lot of pundits have described as a remarkable fairytale run by the English club, ended with Roberto Di Matteo, delivering the only trophy that had eluded Roman Abramovich. A lot of fans have argued that the London team, might just be the luckiest team to win the cup and there’s a debate in there. They were on the brink of elimination under Andre Villas-Boas and also overcame the might of Barcelona in the semis.

2. Lionel Messi breaking Gerd Muller’s record
If there is any footballer that always seems to deliver, irrespective of the huge expectations and hype, it is Barcelona’s forward, Lionel Messi. The 25-year-old Argentine, has been in sensational form all year and as he approached Gerd Muller’s record number of goals scored in a calender year, they were few doubters. Well, not until he tried to do it much earlier and eventually limped off against Benfica. But we all not know he’s superhuman right? That very weekend, against Real Betis, Messi smashed in a glorious double to confine the records to the trash bin.

3. Andy Murray winning the US Open and Olympics
It was a brilliant year for the Scot. Often underrated and sometimes unlucky, his time finally came. Exactly one month after Roger Federer defeated him to win the Wimbledon title, Murray played some fantastic tennis, to shock the world number one 6-2 6-1 6-4, and claim the Olympic gold medal. A few weeks later at the US Open, Murray battled for five hours with Novak Djokovic, to become the first British man to win a Grand Slam singles tennis title for 76 years.

4. Usain Bolt at London 2012
One of the stars of the London Olympics, was Jamaican sprint sensation, Usain Bolt. In the space of a few days, Bolt led Jamaica’s relay team in the 4×100 metres to gold, in a world record time of 36.84 seconds and broke his own records, in the 100m and 200m races where he won gold.

5. Zambia African Cup of Nations win
It had to be Zambia. Yes, Ivory Coast touched down in Gabon/Equatorial Guinea with arguably the best squad out of the 32, but history was waiting to be made. Destiny was calling out, with a loud and poignant voice. Ivory Coast’s attacking trinity of Drogba, Gervinho and Kalou relentlessly troubled the Zambians for 120 minutes, but could not win the match. However, after 14 spot-kicks, Zambia were not to be denied their place in African football history. Kolo Toure and Gervinho missed their kicks and Stoppila Sunzu clinched an 8-7 victory for the Chipolopolo.

6. Manchester City wins EPL
At the Etihad Stadium, there is a banner that simply reads: ’93.20′. It will probably not make sense to you, if you don’t support Manchester City. But then, chances are you very well know what it means. The whole world does. The 2011/2012 Premier League season, ended on a very dramatic note, as Sergio Aguero scored the winning goal for City, with forty seconds left on the clock. What made the victory even sweeter, was not that they had waited 44 years for this, but they trumped United to it.

7. The fall of Lance Armstrong
One of the biggest news of the year, was The International Cycling Union (UCI), stripping Lance Armstrong of his seven Tour de France titles. The sports governing body accepted the findings of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) investigation into Armstrong and banned him for life. Armstrong had won the sport’s most coveted title every year from 1999 to 2005, but the Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme later confirmed that the race will have no official winners for those years.

8. Lebron leads Miami Heat to an NBA title
LeBron James finally led the Miami Heat to the NBA title in 2012. It took him nine years and he needed the help of former rival, Dwayne Wade. The good year continued, as he won gold with the US basketball team at the London Olympics. Now we can comfortably say he is the premier basketball player of the 21st century.

9. USA defeats Canada to win gold in football
One of the football games of the year in women’s football, has to be the intense Olympics final between the USA and Canada. It lasted for about 123 minutes, after the Americans had fought back three times, to force the matter into extra time. They eventually clinched it after Alex Morgan scored with practically the last kick of the match.

10. Felix Baumgartner jumps from space
On a Sunday evening in October this year (depending on which part of the world you are in), millions of keen viewers were glued to their TV and the Internet, as daredevil Baumgartner skydived from the edge of space. The Austrian began his descent from a capsule suspended 23 miles (36.6 km) above Roswell, N.M., breaking the sound barrier and keeping his consciousness – all in five and a half minutes.

Under a spell? A Nigerian student cuts off his manhood and swallows it in Ghana

A Nigerian student enrolled in one of the numerous tertiary institutions in Ghana has cut and swallowed his penis. The incident occurred last Friday. Although no one is sure what prompted the 25-year-old student (name withheld) to chop-off and practically ingest his manhood, Daily Sun gathered that he is currently on admission at one of Ghana’s teaching hospitals.

In Ghana, the average tuition fee per academic session for a non-Ghanaian student hovers around $6,000 (over N900,000). If his parents could pay his fees for studying in Ghana, it was doubtful hunger was not the boy’s reason.

So, was he jilted by a lover? Was it some senseless act of bravado or as a result of failure or poor grades? The student, who hails from Zaria, Kaduna State told Mr. Andrew Idi and other officials of the Nigerian High Commission Accra who visited him in hospital that he believed he was under a spell, when he carried out the bizarre act. Mr. Idi is Consular Officer at Nigeria’s mission in the Ghanaian capital. Reliable sources indicated more than 20,000 Nigerians are students in various tertiary institutions across the former Gold Coast.

And, the number is rising by the semester, as countless Nigerian parents are confident a child studying in a Ghanaian university is sure to complete her/his programme on schedule, whereas, back home some students had spent seven years on a four-year programme, without graduating because of suspension of academic activities, consequent upon incidences of labour strikes, closure of schools over terrorists’ attacks and other incidents.

Bisi Ibidapo Obe: Prophet in trouble with celestial authority after baby christening

The baby christening of Bisi Ibidapo Obe might have come and gone but the echoes of the event still remain. One of the echoes is the Celestial prophet who came to the house to christen the baby as the apex body of the church says it’s unconstitutional to name a baby at home according to their doctrine and the precedent left by the founder of the church.

bisi-ibidapo-obe-and-baby
‘’Even Jesus Christ who is the foundation of the church was brought to the temple to be christened in Luke 2 verse 21-40, so, to name a baby in the house without bringing such baby to be presented before God in the temple is not in line with the church doctrine. Besides, the situation of Bisi was not a critical one for her not to have brought the baby to the church for proper naming,’’ one of the top elders told us.

The said celestial cleric, as you are reading this, it was gathered gathered, might be questioned for defiling the constitution of the church.

police-fight-401x300
Some Nigerian police officers on Tuesday afternoon engaged in a public brawl with officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps at Berger roundabout in Abuja.

A witness, who did not want his name published, told PREMIUM TIMES that about ten police officers picked a fight with three Civil Defence officers because they felt the latter were interfering with their duty.

“The police officers were trying to stop a vehicle and the Civil Defence people came to interfere, then the police officers who were more in number attacked them and started beating them up.

“I saw an officer using a whip on the Civil Defence guy while another pointed a gun at him,” the witness said.

Another witness said there were sporadic gunshots with both parties lashing out at each other with whips.

“There were gunshots and then I saw a police officer flogging a Civil Defence officer with a whip while he was trying to run away,” the witness, who would also not like to be named, said.

The fierce fight caused a major traffic gridlock at Berger Roundabout up to Utako Area of Abuja.

PREMIUM TIMES learnt that it took the intervention of a Divisional Police Officer from Utako Police Station to resolve the fracas.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Abuja Police Command, Doris England, said she is not aware of the situation and would make inquires about it.

Efforts to reach Ms. England later, proved abortive as she did not pick or return calls made to her phone.

It has only been about six months since members of the Civil Defence Corps were allowed to carry arms.

The federal government on June 13, approved the carrying of arms by officials of the civil defence.

They move, it was said, was to assist other security personnel in the security of lives and property in the country.

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh declared wanted

Just in time for Christmas, the 10th issue of Y! Magazine is out, and this new edition is certainly a first for a lifestyle magazine in Nigeria. The magazine, unveiled exclusively to invitation-only guests at the Annual Y! Magazine Black Ball in Lagos on Sunday, 16 December 2012 has controversial singer and actress Tonto Dikeh on its cover – but, in a bold move, it’s an illustrated cover!

Tonto-Dikeh-on-the-cover-of-Y-Magazine-238x3001

“We are excited to have pushed the envelope,” said its editor-in-chief, Chude Jideonwo. “Y! Magazine launched with a bold artistic presentation which was the Omotola cover, and it’s a tradition we have re-ignited. In the new media space, the place of the magazine as a conversation starter might be undergoing a makeover, but the art and essence of the magazine should remain the same.

“It stands at a unique position as a media event and a cultural catalyst, provoking and driving the popular dialogue with features, conversations, imagines, narrations, even controversy. Like the venerable magazine editor Tina Brown has said – you want to publish something that generates energetic debate; otherwise, why would you want to publish it?”

With a cover story themed “How do you solve a problem like Tonto Dikeh?” that investigates the cultural phenomenon that Ms. Dikeh has become, it kicks off a new Y! Magazine cover philosophy to give deeper insight, beyond predictable interviews, into the Nigerian culture and issues zeitgeist.

The cover illustration is by Bolaji Iwayemi, and the photography for the inside pages is by the iconic Kelechi Amadi-Obi, with styling by the impressive duo of Toyin Lawani and Tiannah Styling.

As always, Y! Magazine is a skilful mix of issues, lifestyle, and culture. There is a feature on Nigeria’s visionary mega-church pastors, sex and the single Christian, ‘Under Attack’ which explores Muslim stereotypes, and ‘Believe it or Not’ which interrogates young Nigerian atheists.

The delicious 8-page Christmas Special shares the colours, designs, movies, and songs that should keep you company this season, and over a dozen celebrities – including Wizkid, Toke Makinwa and others – share what they call their ‘most memorable Christmas.

The entertainment pages include interviews with Iyanya, Joseph Benjamin, Andre Blaze, Dammy Krane, and Niyola, and Y! Magazine also unveils the first in its Annual Y! Magazine Best Dressed List – 20 young celebrities make the list this year!

And be sure to read an exclusive interview with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his Ota residence.

And for Y! Magazine, its last issue for 2012 is also one for celebration. “We do know something about faith. If we aren’t making a big deal about our big move in being Nigeria’s first illustrated lifestyle magazine cover, it is because of our facility with faith,” said its editor’s letter this edition. “Faith in trusting the global-citizen bonafides of our readers as we push the envelope with the concept and content of our covers and our magazine. Or for that matter to be the one magazine that has not missed one edition since it launched 30 months ago in this famously impossible media market.”

Flash: UNIABUJA Graduates Students With Multiple Carryovers, Panel Finds

The Presidential (Special) Visitation Panel to the University of Abuja, in its report to the Federal Government, has said that the university graduated students who had carryovers in its 2003/2004 session. It also identified the absence of an academic culture in the management of the affairs of the institution from inception.
The Dr. T. C Osanakpo-led Panel in the report which was exclusively obtained by our correspondent, and accessed on Monday, said it took into cognizance the general environment, conduct and the host community as the major concepts in the term of reference addressed under the focus area of conduct of academic and non-academic staff.
The panel noted that the graduation of 31 students of the English Department who had varying numbers of carry-over courses in the 2003/2004 session, “indicates the highest degree of carelessness, incompetence, and insensitivity.’’
It added, “We have every reason to believe that there could be more of such cases. The Senate should be directed to revisit these cases and take appropriate action.”
The panel examined the general atmosphere in the university under different administrations from the first (Prof. Isa Mohammed) to the fifth and current (Prof. JSA Adelabu), and the conduct of academic and non-academic staff before reaching its conclusions.
It noted among other things, that” In terms of management of academic matters, the Panel noted that it is characterised by non-existence/lack of examination and student record office/unit (s) at the university, and management’s/vice chancellor’s reluctance to deal/dispense with proven cases of examination misconduct and malpractices (e.g. the case of graduation of unqualified students (31 No. 2003/2004 session) by Dr. Nnadi of English Department.
“There is also evidence of confirmation of results administratively on behalf of Senate by the Vice Chancellor without due diligence and authorisation ( the case of 31 No. unqualified graduates from English Department);
“Over-admission of students in all programmes of the university resulting in over-stressing, over crowding and over-use of available university physical and manpower resources, and ineffective performance of personnel in carrying out examination administration functions.’’
The panel indicted the university administration for poor record keeping and computation of students Grade Point Average
“It was characterised, in the case of academic staff, by absence from examination invigilation without approval, lack of diligent supervision of postgraduate students, delays in the marking of examination scripts, grading and release of results as well as in the conduct of postgraduate examinations.
“In the case of non-academic staff, they participate in examination invigilation, particularly the junior non-academic staff cadres, too low by training, rank and experience to be part of academic affairs of the university, overstay (surprisingly, in the examinations of the regular programmes of the University).”
The Panel also found out that N98m was expended on ICT from 1999 to date out of which N18. 52m was expended on networking at the Mini Campus aside from the many special grants received from agencies like TETFUND and the National Communications Commission.
It, however, noted that, “Despite the various huge investments, there is no functional e-library on the campuses of the university in a Federal Capital Territory.”

Mad Woman Miraculously Regains Her Senses after Being Hit by a Car

The story has been told about the miraculous cure of a 40-year-old mentally ill woman who has been simply identified as Olubisi Aina at Sanyo area of Ibadan, Oyo State on Tuesday, 11th December, 2012 after an auto accident.
trbn
According to the Tribune, which reported the story, the way and manner in which Olubisi Aina regained her sanity after about a decade or more of insanity is amazing and it could be described as a wonder. Aina had been insane for 10 years or thereabout and paraded herself, most often nakedly, on the Sanyo-Temidire-Agbamu road, her habitation for over a decade.

She usually slept on her back with her face up in drainages or on the main road close to the bridge on Damo River in the area; and come rain or shine, Olubisi was always in her habitat and is well known in the neighbourhood. Perhaps that was her saving grace on Monday, 10th December, 2012 when a car ran over her where she was sleeping at about 9a.m.

Olubisi was quickly rushed to Oore-Ofe Hospital and Maternity Home where her bruised mouth and legs were attended to. However, after being discharged, patron of the hospital, Mr Toyin Adesina, advised that she should have a bath. She was later led by acquaintances to Damo River where she was given new sponge and soap for her bath. As she raised the sponge above her head, she said “Thank you God” in Yoruba Language. Instantly, she regained her sanity and whatever question was posed to her, she answered accurately!

“Private Jet Equals Private Death, Stop The Stealing Now” – Dino Melaye Warns FG

dele

Dino Melaye would not soon forget his ordeal in the hands of his twitter followers after he politicized the deaths in a helicopter crash of Kaduna Governor, Patrick Yakowa and ex-National Security Adviser, Gen. Patrick Azazi, who died over the weekend.

The former member of the House of Representative most famous for fighting in the House and allegedly impregnating and denying the paternity if a Nollywood star’s child had insensitively tweeted immediately after the crash that “Private jet equals private death, stop the stealing now”.

But when his incensed followers reminded him that he had just bought a 50 million Naira Porsche, Melaye changed his tune and tweeted that “Private Porsche equals private effort. Prove otherwise”.

Melaye unfortunately did not attempt to prove that those who died either died in a private plane (it was a military helicopter) or that they were thieves!

At first, he’ll get a little short with a waiter who flirts with you. Then he’ll be exasperated by how long you and the postmaster discuss the rising price of stamps. When he points out that you and your brother hug too long to be appropriate, or that your gynecologist is a lesbian and obviously has the hots for you, it’s time to give him his walking papers. However flattering his jealousies may seem in the first five minutes of your relationship, they’ll get old and confining more quickly than you can imagine, and when you do finally break up with him, he will hang the scarves you left behind on your trees like nooses and follow you and the next man you date all over town.

The Bully
This is the man who sits you down, grabs your arm, pulls your hair, or pokes your chest. While most of us know better than to let ourselves get socked in the mouth (but even then never following through), there’s a whole universe of more “minor” infractions in the violence department that should disqualify your new beau instantaneously (but all too often does not).

The Two-Timer
For the first time since you’ve been dating, he’s too sick to make a date. You try to ignore the fact that it happens to be your birthday, and you assemble the ingredients for your famous chicken soup. You drop it off inside his door. Two days later, he’s still sick, but you’ve been invited over. You ask if you can heat up some soup for him, and he says, in a small, congested voice, “That would be wonderful.” You pour the soup from the Tupperware into the pot, and you see that there are mushrooms in it. Your famous chicken soup doesn’t contain mushrooms. Conclude that this man has another source of soup and will continue to cheat on you for as long as you give him the chance.

The “Liberated” Man
I used to have a friend who said, “I seem to have a very liberating effect on whatever man I’m dating. We go on three dates, and the next thing I know he’s moved in with me, he’s quit his job, and his car is up on blocks in my yard.” Certain men are more prone to this type of liberation than others, I have found: Carpenters, river guides, and flamenco guitarists all fall into the category of men who are perfectly willing to hand themselves over to the care of a good woman, as well as visual artists, stage performers, and racers (ski, bike, boat) of all kinds.

The Betrayed
I seem to have dated an inordinate number of men who have just been left by a woman for a woman. In general, these men are angry beyond all reason, no matter to what lengths they may go to disguise it, and if you date one, be ready to give up all your girlfriends, or you will be accused of being a lesbian, too.

The Narcissist
He doesn’t like your dog? Do we even need to talk about this one? Put it at the top of the category that includes he won’t make eye contact with your kid, he doesn’t want to meet your sister, and he whines the first time you make plans with your girlfriend. A man threatened by the love you have for the dog you sleep with is going to be threatened by more things than you can name. Dating him is inviting the type of conflict into your life that will make you tired before you even get up in the morning.

Mr. Resentment
Pay close attention to how he handles your accomplishments. If you get a promotion with a raise and he breaks it down to show you how it really only amounts to six dollars a day after taxes, that’s the first strike. When he uses any expression like “your little project,” count that as two. Just because men are having a hard time adjusting to the idea that women are capable breadwinners doesn’t mean you have to martyr yourself into helping them make the transition. There are men out there who are more than happy to bask in the glow their women cast and to consider your talents a positive reflection on them.

The Virtual Lover
What a relief it is when a man doesn’t try to force you into bed on the first date. How charmed you are when, on the third date, he says he wants to wait until “you both can’t stand it anymore.” How sympathetic you become when, on the sixth date, he tells you how badly he was hurt by your predecessor. How confused you are six months later when you’ve realized his pager goes off every time you get unclad, but he’s still sending you roses and talking teddy bears. A surprising number of great romancers out there never get around to having sex. To the date-weary woman, this can seem like not the worst combination, but beware. Eventually he will blame his problems on the smell of your breath or the size of your thighs.

The Guy Who Had the Happiest Childhood This Side of the Beav
His mother was perfect; his father never smoked or drank or cheated. He hates the way his friends blame their parents for everything, when he and his seven brothers and sisters had love pouring down on them from the moment they woke in the morning until they went to bed. However refreshing this might sound the first time you hear it, listen carefully for a voice that is trying to convince itself, listen for the creak and crack of a personal mythology in the throes of shattering. When it comes crashing to the ground, it’s going to make a very big noise, and most likely your relationship will come crashing down with it.

Joe No-Show
You meet in a city where neither of you lives, at a convention or a wedding. The calls and e-mails are making the phone lines sweat; two months later he’s begging you to visit. You tell the woman next to you on the plane that after years of searching you think you’ve met The One, and the two of you giggle with anticipation all the way to baggage claim. Thirty minutes later, when the carousel stops going around, she looks at you with deep pity and asks if she can give you a ride somewhere. That’s the moment to go straight back to the ticket counter.

10 Reasons Why The Blackberry 10 Is Better Than iOS 6

Combining the powerful Neutrino OS from QNX, beautiful UI from TAT and industry-leading WebKit browser from Torch Mobile, BlackBerry has created the most advanced mobile platform in the world – BlackBerry 10. In addition, incorporating an advanced contact management system from Gist and licensing the SwiftKey keyboard has allowed BlackBerry to take its traditional strengths to the next level. After using the Dev Alpha B (running BB 10) for the past 3 months, I have discovered 10 ways in which BB10 has surpassed the outdated and stagnant iOS 6.

1) Dynamic Lock Screen

2) BlackBerry Hub – A Powerful Communications Center
Continuing with BlackBerry’s strength in messaging, the Hub allows users to receive and send emails, text messages and messages from Social Networks (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn). In addition, users can post status updates to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn without leaving the Hub. Continuing with BlackBerry’s specialty in saving users’ time, this removes the need to open a Facebook app, a Twitter app and a LinkedIn app when a user wants to update their social networks.

3) Peek and Flow
The Hub is not an ordinary application – it is always running in the background. Thus, no matter which app an user is using, they are always one gesture away from the Hub (and their messages).
4) Advanced Touch Gestures
BlackBerry 10 gets rid of the outdated physical home button on the iPhone 5, and allows uses to use touch gestures to control the OS.

5) Industry-Leading Browser
With a HTML5 Test score of 484, BlackBerry 10 has the fastest browser in the industry (unless you also count the Tizen 2). In contrast, iOS 6 only has a score of only 386. In addition, the BB 10 browser is faster than any desktop browser. For example, its HTML5 Test score of 484 is higher than Chrome Canary’s 453. The QNX Neutrino OS and RIM’s acquisition of Torch Mobile are the reasons behind the industry-leading browser on BB 10.

6) Active Frames
BB10 (unlike iOS 6) supports real multi-tasking. Thus, an user can have 8 open apps at the same time. When minimized, these running apps form a Active Frame, which provides tidbits of useful information. For example, from the Active Frame of the Calendar app, you can see the name and time of your next calendar appointment. Without opening BBM, you can see a contact’s updated profile picture, and their latest status updates.

7) TimeShift Camera
I have heard “wows” from colleagues and friends every time I demonstrate the TimeShift feature on the BB10 camera. The camera has a facial recognition ability, and allows you to move forward and backward in time to avoid blinking eyes or change facial expressions. The most incredible use case is when there are multiple people in the picture. You can put person A at +2 seconds, person B at 0.5 second and person C at -1 second. Thus, you have created the perfect moment that did not actually exist.

More Development Languages and Tools
BlackBerry 10 offers 3 ways for developers to develop native apps – C++/Cascades, Webworks (HTML5) and Adobe Air. In addition, developers can port their Android apps to BB 10 using RIM’s Android porting tools. Of course, developers can also use cross-platform tools such as Unity/Union, Marmalade, PhoneGap and Sencha.

This is in contrast to iOS 6, in which there is only one method available to developers – iOS SDK. The lack of a HTML5 SDK means that the many web developers that exist cannot put their skills to use.

BB10′s ability to run Android apps is a significant advantage over iOS. In fact, from talking to BlackBerry employees in the past, BB10 could run iOS apps too (if iOS was open-sourced). This also applies to any other OS (e.g. Windows). Thus, by buying a BB10 device, you are virtually also getting an Android device for free.

9) Support of Open Standards – DLNA, NFC and HDMI—
DLNA has many uses, but it is not supported by the iPhone 5 (or any other iOS device).
BlackBerry adopts open-standards including DLNA, NFC and HDMI, which is convenient and results in cost-savings for consumers. This is in contrast to iOS, which supports none of these three standards.

With the launch of the Bold 9900 in August 2011, BlackBerry was the first major smartphone maker to support NFC. In Canada and the U.S., customers can already use their BlackBerry to make payments via NFC at thousands of locations that display the Contactless symbol. The L-series has a NFC chip, and there are already several NFC sample apps for the Dev Alpha available for developers to use to create NFC apps.

BlackBerry 10, like the PlayBook, has a HDMI output. This makes it easy for the user to display pictures or videos on a large-screen TV. In contrast, a lighting-to-HDMI adaptor is required for the iPhone or iPad, which costs an extra US$39/CAD$45.

Unlike Apple, BlackBerry is part of the http://www.dlna.org/. This allows you to wirelessly display pictures, play videos and music from your BB10 smartphone on a TV (or any other electronic device with DLNA support). In order to use a similar feature on the iPhone 5, you would need to buy the Apple TV for $99.

10) BBM – Beyond Instant Messaging

BBM currently has 60 million active users around the world. With the launch of BBM 7 this month, free voice calls over Wi-Fi is now available. BBM Video Chat on BB10 has been confirmed by Thorstein Heins. In addition, a collaboration feature, in which users using BBM Video can share documents and files instantly, has been leaked in pictures and videos. This is particularly useful for meetings.

Furthermore, RIM executives have recently said that BBM Money is “coming soon”, with the interpretation being late 2012 or early 2013. This feature allows BBM users to transfer money, which is convenient for friends who owe each other money, or in-person transactions (made through Kijiji for example).

BBM 6 already had far more functionality than Apple’s iMessage. With the addition of voice calls, video, collaboration tools and BBM Money, BBM is set to widen the ….
