A Theatre Arts graduate of the University of Port-Harcourt, Ejinne has risen above the waka-pass role she played in 2001 to become one of the most sought-after actress in Nollywood today.

Currently on location in Awka, Anambra Sate where she is part of the cast on new movie production Ejinne took time out to speak on her career.

Hobbies

As an African lady, our men love food so much. So I love to cook. In fact, cooking is my hobby. I love traveling too.

My journey into acting

My passion for acting has been from my childhood days. Then, I noticed that I loved posing for the camera. The first movie I featured in was Oil Village, produced by Sam Onwuka in 2001.

After my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), I also featured in some other movies such as Dirty Secret, Guilty As Sin, Friends In Love, Ofe Owerri Special, Sorrow To Joy, Thanks For Coming, Gallant Babes, Deep Water, Enemies I see, Tomorrow and others.

My journey into acting started as far back as 2001, when I travelled to Oguta for a holiday. There, I was told about a shooting taking place across the lake at the Oguta motel. And because of my passion for the movie industry, I stormed there. I was so lucky that I got a role to act alongside great actors like Sam Loco Efe. My role in the movie was that of a journalist who interviewed Sam Loco after his court case.

After that movie, I developed interest in acting. So, during one of my holidays, I went to Lagos. Together with my cousin, we went to the National Theatre and registered as members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). And most of the roles I secured have been through Divine Touch Productions.

For now, I don’t depend on acting only as a means of survival. So alongside acting, I also sell clothes.

Support

Those who have stood b me in the industry are just few people. I appreciate the effort of one Grace Agwu in helping me through my career. She’s been a sister to me and her effort is well appreciated.

Challenges

Nothing good comes easily so the struggle hasn’t been easy. There was a time I felt like giving up but I had to encourage myself to continue.

Peak of the profession

Since acting is what I love so much, a lot of friends have been looking up to me to get to the top. So I don’t see any reason to give up the fight. I just have to get to the peak of my profession.

Parents

When I was in secondary school, I remember that I disobeyed my father. I went against his wish by changing from the science class to the art because I wanted to act.

Even after I graduated from secondary school, I remember using the money meant for my Christmas shoe to buy a form to study Theater Art at the University of Port-Harcourt.

My parents never wanted me to act. But I thank God that toady, I have their full support and blessing.

For me, I see the struggle in the movie industry as the survival of the fittest. So I’m not about to give up my dreams because it didn’t just start in a day. Acting is my life and it’s a long time dream.

Role model

My role model is Genevieve Nanji. I just love her and the way she acts.

My expectation for 2012

I believe I’m at the peak of my career. In fact, right now, I’m in Awka doing my shooting, my second movie in the year. The first movie I did for the year was in Owerri. I believe that 2012 is my year to be the best. In fact, I had to slow down the rate at which I travel for my clothing business so that I can have more time for acting.

My beauty and career

Yes I know I’m a very beautiful and attractive lady and guys can’t seem to get their eyes off me. But in every situation, there’s always a way out of it. I believe nothing is by force so I make sure to stand my ground whenever I find myself in a tight corner.

I am determined not to mess around and I know I’m responsible for whatever I do. I hate to do things I’ll later regret. So I’ve been taking things easy. I’m careful not to act desperate in the pursuit of my career. I’ve committed my pursuit into the hands of God. God knows my heart and has seen my struggle. So I have faith that very soon, he’ll crown my effort with success.

Me and men

Men can’t keep their eyes off me. In fact, I get a lot of compliments from them all the time, so it’s not a new thing. Sometimes some stare so much at me that I can’t help but thank God for blessing me. Sexual harassment

I believe that there is sexual harassment everywhere even in offices but it’s up to the person in question to either accept or turn them down. For me, I am not desperate.

Acting nude

Yes I can act nude if it’s in a foreign movie with a very good story line. But I can’t act in a porn movie, especially in any Nollywood movie because it’s against our culture as Africans.

Marriage

For now, all I think about is my career. And because I am ambitious, I hardly think about marriage. But if it comes, fine. But I can only marry a man who is supportive of my career because that’s what makes me happy. I don’t want a man who may want to take away my dream.

Ideal man

My ideal man is someone that is God fearing, well polished and has a good dress sense.

FINALLY: Banks In Lagos Stop N100 Charge On Use Of ATMs

Banks in Lagos have cancelled the N100 charge on customers’ use of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) withdrawal from other banks.

NAN visit to some banks on Tuesday showed that the banks had since Monday complied with the new trend.

This followed the Bankers Committee’s directive that the banks should stop charging N100 with effect from Dec. 17.

Some customers in separate interviews with NAN said that they were happy with the development and expressed the hope that more positive developments would be made in the sector in 2013.

Mr Kunle Adewale, an Information Technology expert and a customer with GTB, said that the development showed that customers would no longer suffer unwarranted banks’ charges.

He said that the development had showed that banks customers would get the best service delivery without the regulators forcing the banks to charge customers unnecessarily.

Mr Afolaju Waheed, a customer with Access Bank, said that stoppage of the charges would not reduce the level of profits made by banks.

“But it will rather reduce the long queues in the banking halls,” Waheed said.

According to him, the cancellation of N100 charge will help the banks to enjoy more patronage of their ATMs facilities.

“This in return will boost the clamour for financial inclusion among the people in the informal sector,’’ he said.

Another customer with First Bank Plc, Marina, Miss Esther Oluwayinka, said that she was surprised when the ATM machine did not alert her that she would be charged N100 after she used that of another bank.

Oluwayinka said that initially she felt that it was a teller machine error when the ATM did not deduct the N100 charge from her account for using another bank.

“When the ATM did not ask me if I was aware that my account will be deducted by N100, I was not bothered, but l thought it was a machine error.

“Later, after my transaction, I discovered that I was not also charged for the withdrawal made.

“It was at this juncture that I told a friend my experience at ATM dispenser and she also confirmed that she had similar experience. The cancellation is a welcome development,” she said.

Another customer of UBA at Iganmu branch, who pleaded anonymity, said that he believe the banks would still come up with another way of taking their charges from the customers.

“In the banking sector in Nigeria nothing goes free. At the end of the month the banks will surprise the customers with another funny charge,” the customer said.

NAN recalls that the banks had on Dec. 9 agreed to start effective implementation of zero ATM charges throughout the country.

The agreement was sealed at the fourth annual Bankers’ Committee’s retreat held in Calabar.

NAN reports that Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, CBN governor and Chairman, Bankers’ Committee, had said that CBN would monitor the effective implementation of the cancellation.

President Mugabe: Anglican Pastor had sex in church

Followers of expelled and ex-communicated bishop Nolbert Kunonga engaged in illicit sexual intercourse in the St Mary’s and other church buildings.

kunonga
The Anglican Church of the Province of Central Africa (CPCA) has said just as it performed a massive cleansing ceremony on all church buildings which operations consumated yesterday(Sunday).

The sexual vices were that significant that President Robert Mugabe was alerted leading to the head of state deciding to dump Kunonga, his long time ally and a leading supporter in the in the Anglican clergy.

Sources have claimed President Robert Mugabe’s repulsion to the alleged activities is the reason why Kunonga has found no state support as before.

The CPCA’s Bishop Chad Gandiya, yesterday finalised a cleansing exercise that began late in November, concluding it at the St Mary’s Cathedral in Harare. The exercise follows the takeover of all church properties that had been seized by the renegade ZANU PF former strong man bishop Kunonga.

The CPCA’s secretary Clifford Dzawo told reporters they were going to carry out similar cleansing ceremonies throughout the country to make churches usable following the alleged immoral defilement.

“We are going into all churches for cleansing as the churches had been turned into brothels when we were in exile. Kunonga had been made the custodian of the church by the court, but we want to thank the Lord because they have now understood that we are the rightful owners of the properties. The church has been rededicated to the Lord as we are now going to our rightful places of worship. Some places had been turned into crèches, receptions and bedrooms and were abused and now it (the cathedral) is now being used for the proper purpose it serves,” said Dzawo.

The ceremonies which include the burning of incense and sprinkling of holy water is meant to cleanse the properties of demonic or sinful entaglements.

Principal arrested for conducting virginity test on students in Ogun.Allegedly dipped fingers into the pupils private parts

The Principal of a Secondary School in Ogun state,Olufunke Oladeojobi, has been quizzed by the police for allegedly conducting virginity tests on some students in her school.
virginity-test
Without seeking the consent of the parents and guardians of the students, she called in a nurse and jointly carried out virginity tests on a group of 10 students last week Monday.

Punch reports that the principal and the nurse whose name could not be ascertained allegedly dipped their fingers into the pupils’ private parts. After the exercise, which took place at the principal’s office, each of the pupils was given an exercise book.

Here is an excerpt of the news report stating the account of some of the students:

A 15-year-old pupil, who identified herself simply as Ayo, said the principal came into the classroom on the day and announced that all female SSS 1 pupils should converge on the assembly ground. She said the principal subsequently asked that those who had yet to lose their virginity should stand apart.

Ayo said, “We are over 600 in SSS 1 but only about 300 of us are females. Those of us that are virgins are 38 and we were marched into the principal’s office with the assistance of members of staff. They subsequently divided us into three groups of 10, 15 and 13 and I was in the second group. The principal later addressed us and threatened that any pupil who fails the test would have her name written in the school’s black book and would be suspended.”

Ayo said she became apprehensive when everyone who emerged from the office where the test was being carried out came out with a sad and disgusting look. She said, “When my class captain emerged from the room, I asked her why anyone that came out of the office looked depressed? I was held spell bound when she told me that the principal and the nurse dipped their fingers in turns into their private parts, adding that she had started bleeding as a result of the penetration. Just as I was asking further questions from her, the principal dashed out of her office and announced that she had discovered one student who had lost her virginity out of the 10 students that were examined. She wrote her name on one of the notice boards in her office and ordered the rest of us to return to our various classes. Two of my friends who had similar experiences burst into tears as they narrated what happened.”

Thirteen-year-old SSS I pupil of the school, identified simply as Ujunwa, said the principal was happy that she was able to “catch a promiscuous pupil” as she felt proud to discuss it on the assembly ground the next day.

She, however, added that her joyous moments was soon short-lived when the parents of the 10 pupils stormed the school in protest against the development.

The parents of the pupils reported the Principal’s action to the Police and she was subsequently arrested. The report further stated that she told the Police that “she was trying to help them” and that she wasn’t detained because it was taken into consideration that she is a civil servant.

This sounds totally wrong. She had no right to do what she did, absolutely none! How could she just put her fingers into their private parts? It sounds more like sexual molestation rather than a virginity test.

We pray that in her bid to “help them”, she hasn’t caused more physical and psychological harm to the young girls

Waste Disposal Worker Finds 18 Million Naira Cash In Rubbish

A worker at a waste disposal site has found 10,000 yen cash in a stream of pulverized rubbish, police say.

garbage_naples_01
“There were about a thousand (10,000) yen (N 18, 080, 000) bills that came out of a pulveriser unscathed,” a spokesman at the Asaminami police department in Hiroshima prefecture, in Japan’s west, said today.

He added that there were also 2300 fragments of bills destroyed by the machine at a municipal facility that processes large waste, such as cupboards and mattresses, that cannot be collected by regular garbage pick-up.

Police suspect the owner of the cash might have forgotten the money was there when he or she threw away some furniture.

“We believe it is unlikely there is anything criminal in this, although we must say we don’t know much about this money at all,” the spokesman said.

The cash was found on Monday. If no one comes forward within three months, the waste disposal facility will have the right to claim the money, the spokesman said.

Ex Mr Nigeria Kenneth Okolie kidnapped alongside Nkiru Sylvanus

We all heard that actress Nkiru Sylvanus was kidnapped late Saturday night December 15th, what we didn’t hear until now was that 2010 Mr Nigeria Kenneth Okolie was with her when she was kidnapped. His friends just contacted me with the info.
new
Kenneth, Nkiru and another yet to be identified passenger left a movie location in Owerri late Saturday night and were heading to another location when gunmen blocked Nkiru’s car between Concorde Hotel and Cathedral Road in Owerri, and took all three passengers in the car.

Kenneth left Lagos two weeks ago to feature in the movie and was due back home sometime this week. The kidnappers are yet to make contact with Kenneth’s family. Truly sad what is going on in our country.

Are Chris Brown and Rihanna done? Rihanna kinda confirms it…

reh

Just last week Rihanna tweeted she was missing ‘her Nigga’, now she’s saying she’s single? Check out her cryptic post on Instagram a few hours ago (above).

reh2
Well, who can blame her? She’s probably had enough. First, Chris Brown invited his ex Karrueche Tran to Paris to be with him, then over the weekend a French reality star claimed to have slept with him in Paris. Oh well, she probably needed closure…getting back with him and ending things was probably what she needed to do to purge him out of her system. Now keep it moving…

Scarlett Johansson Hacker Jailed For 10 Years

A man who hacked into Scarlett Johansson’s email account has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Page03_02_1640360a

33-year-old Christopher Chaney had also hacked into the accounts of around 50 others, including actresses Mila Kunis and Renee Olstead, and singer Christina Aguilera.

He then distributed nude pictures of Johansson and Olstead, star of ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’, online.

Judge S. James Otero said that Chaney has shown a ‘callous disregard to the victims’, some of whom he had stalked online for over 10 years.

He was also ordered to pay $66,179 in compensation.

Chaney pleaded guilty to nine felony counts in all, including wiretapping and gaining unauthorised access to protected computers.

He had frequently gained access to the email accounts through guess work, sometimes using pets’ names as passwords.

“I don’t want to compare it to throwing a touchdown pass,” he told GQ magazine. “But it was a rush.”

He also accessed the accounts of Hollywood producers, and observed the break-up of Johansson and her ex-husband Ryan Reynolds through her email.

“They were discussing, I guess, aspects of who gets what,” he said. “It was weird to read stuff like that. It was almost too personal.”

“Mr. Chaney methodically targeted his victims based on their celebrity without regard for the law or the impact the theft of personal and intimate details would have to their lives,” said Los Angeles’ FBI assistant director Bill Lewis.

“This case illustrates the need for cybersecurity vigilance by computer users and, in addition, may serve as a deterrent for anyone contemplating similar intrusions.”

Three teenagers, charged with killing boy, 17

A 22-year-old man Afeez Salami, and three other teenagers, Akanbi (15), Salisu (17) and Ishola (17) (other names withheld), have been arraigned before an Ikeja Juvenile Court, Lagos, for alleged murder.

The police said the four accused persons conspired together and stabbed a 17-year-old boy, Nwosor Osita, to death.

It was alleged that Osita was accosted by the accused persons at about 10:30pm on October 8 on Safisi Street, Alagbado, Lagos State.

Osita was said to have provoked the accused persons for allegedly putting on a black face cap suspected to be the identity of a cult group – Black Axe.

According to the charge sheet with NO FCI/JUV/123/12 which was made available to our correspondent on Monday, the four accused persons were each charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit felony and murder.

The charge sheet stated, “That you Salami, Akanbi, Salisu and Ishola within the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire together to commit felony to wit murder and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.”

“That you Salami, Akanbi, Salisu and Ishola did unlawfully kill Nwosor Osita by stabbing him to death and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.”

However, the court did not take their plea as the police put up an application for their remand.

Magistrate A.B. Olagbegi-Adelabu who stood in for Magistrate A.A. Oshoniyi subsequently ordered them remanded in custody on October 29.

She also ordered the police to duplicate the case file and forward it to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions to enable it to give advice on their prosecution.

At the resumed hearing on Monday, the accused persons were not present in court. Oshoniyi then adjourned till March 5 for hearing on the advice of the DPP.
