Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Ademorin Kuye said made this known yesterday. He said:

The money goes into drinks, wine, food, aso-ebi and all of that and when they spend all of this money; they do not want to pay anything to the government”

 “There is merriment tax in that constitution, its part of the rate Local Governments can collect. We have not fully utilised the benefit of the entertainment industry in this state”.

How could I have married two women legally in Nigeria? I should be in Jail by now because there is a law that condemns such an act. How come she has not gone to court instead of media for seperation? Seperation can only come through the court.

American government gave Laide Green card because she is legally married to me, we had a court marriage in Nigeria also. When she was supposed to be a faithful wife, she would leave her matrimonial home to stay with married men in Lagos, all in the name of being actress or career lady. I couldn’t monitor her because i am not always in Nigeria. In fact, there was a time she left our baby, Similoluwa with me for eight months in America in the name of career lady, i had become a nursing father. I have been trying to manage my home the way i could.

Are you Insinuating she cheated on you?
Yes, Of course! She did both in the past and now, all in the name of being career woman.

Mavin artist D’Prince has amicably parted ways with his manager, Teebillz, who is also Tiwa Savage’s manager and fiance. The two who were in the UK two weeks ago to shoot two videos for Tiwa, ended their business relationship as soon as they returned from the UK.

D’Prince announced on Twitter a few days ago that he is now being managed by Sunday Are, who also manages singer Omawumi. A source told me Teebillz wants to reduce the number of artists he manages and concentrate on other projects.
“Teebillz didn’t really have time to commit to managing him. He wants to concentrate on the business management of his label and leave artist management alone for now. He’s busy with too many projects and they decided D’Prince should move to Mr Are”

One of Nigeria’s veteran guitarist, Fatoke Abiodun, was on Tuesday sentenced to three years imprisonment for drug trafficking at the Federal High Court, Lagos. The 62-year-old Abiodun was a guitarist with King Sunny Ade, Nigeria’s foremost musician.

Prior to the judgment, defence counsel, Mr. Bayo Onifade, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy as Abiodun is a husband of three wives with 12 children.

Abiodun had pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful exportation of 1.575kg of cocaine during his trial in February 26, 2013.

Justice S. Seidu sentenced him to three years imprisonment with effect from the date of arrest. He said, “The appeal of the defence counsel has been taken into consideration and the fact that the convict pleaded guilty as charged without wasting the time of the court was also carefully considered.”

It would be recalled that Abiodun was apprehended by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on January 1, 2013, at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

Abiodun, who played guitar for music star, King Sunny Ade, for over three decades, was caught while attempting to board an Air France flight to Italy.

During a search, two parcels of cocaine weighing 1.575kg were found hidden in the false bottom of his luggage.

Abiodun had blamed poverty for his predicament. He said:
“My music career is a sad story. I played for King Sunny Ade for 30 years before I was unceremoniously retired in 2007 without severance benefit. I was unprepared for it and I saw the bitter side of life. This is my first time of trafficking drugs. I did it out of frustration because at my age, I could not provide for my family.”

Actor, Lere Paimo, a.k.a Eda Onileola, was arrested in Ibadan last Thursday over court contempt allegation.

The actor had repeatedly refused to show up in a lower court in Ilorin in the case brought against him by the Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP) over the conduct of an election that returned Comrade Victor Ashaolu as ANTP president in 2010.

Upon his arrest, Eda told the officer that he was not in good condition to embark on the trip to Kwara State and begged to be allowed to come to the capital city another time.

When the actor insisted that he needed medical help, which eventually convinced the officer of the seriousness of the actor’s situation, he took him to a police clinic in Ibadan for medical attention.

Eda was admitted for a day and was taken to Ilorin the next day to face contempt charge brought against him.

In Ilorin, ANTP lawyer, Abdulganiyu Bello, appealed to the police officers, after talking to the defendant’s lawyer, to allow Eda to go back to Ibadan after begging them not to jail him as that could kill him.

The lawyer confirmed to R in a phone conversation on Thursday evening that the actor was diabetic and should be allowed to take care of himself before they could proceed on any action.

“I have explained baba’s condition to the court and he was allowed to go back home. He actually could have been jailed if not for his ill health. As regards his final freedom though, it is only the court that can decide that”, he told R.

Asked why Eda was brought to Ilorin by police officer, he said the actor had refused to respond to court summons asking him to come and answer to charges against him by Dele Odule as regards ANTP election held in Ilorin in 2010 depsite a court order against the conduct

“On several occasions, Eda refused to honour the court and the court moved against him last week. He should obey the court the next time”, he advised.

Responding to the issue of summon, Lere Paimo blamed his predicament on Jide Kosoko and promised to fight on till justice is done.

“I know those behind my problem now, especially Jide Kosoko. I will not forgive them even if I am asked to, because my spirit will not forgive me if I do what you asked as regards forgiving them if they ask me to,” he added.

Kosoko, however, said Eda got it wrong if he believed he ordered his arrest from Lagos.

“With due respect to Baba Eda, who I hold dearly, I am not behind his legal problems or any other problems he is going through.

“Someone sued those who conducted an election a court had earlier instructed that should not be held and baba is now blaming me. I am not the court. A court issued a bench warrant for his arrest, not me, not ANTP”, the president of ANTP told R.

He added that he had never been to Ilorin since the case began and had nothing to do with the case in question.

“I pity baba because of his ill health and age, bit I don’t know anything about his legal crisis’’.

And when someone asked him about that Kay Switch tweet where he welcomed him (Olamide) to their family, Olamide replied: “Yeah, we family”

I guess that puts an end to the rumour. But here’s one thing I know…D’banj tried to sign him. Maybe things didn’t work out.

Dear Michelle Obama,I’m addressing this to you because I admire you. Because you’re smart and a mum to two young girls. And you’re the First Lady of the USA. And because you were recently quoted as saying that Beyonce is a great ‘role model’ to your two daughters, and because you recently tweeted, after the Superbowl, that you were ‘so proud’ of her. I’m writing because everything you do is admired and emulated by so many; but when you endorse a recording artist like Beyonce, I see the most misogynistic aspects of the music industry (that prefers girls to be no more complex than dolls) interpret your comments as a seal of approval for the thoughtless cultural currency that they flood the youth market with. I’m writing because I think it’s time to stop suggesting to very young girls that ultimate feminine success – in the music industry or anywhere else – comes with the need, or the expectation for them to undress.

Variations of Beyonce’s body suit can be found in brothels, strip clubs, and red light districts across the world – where sex is for sale and it happens to be dispensed through a woman’s body. That she is a human being with feelings and dreams, perhaps a sister, a mother, a leader, a teacher, a student – ALWAYS – a daughter – all of this can be forgotten. In those surroundings a suit like Beyonce’s would look far from glamorous. Maybe just downright heartbreaking as a woman somewhere becomes an object, available for the gratification of a desire – at a price dictated by her ‘managers’.
Next time you’re presented with a shortlist of people in popular culture who you should spend time with or commend, think about how many young girls want to be just like Beyonce: Beyonce who sings ‘Bow Down Bitch’ and wears sheer bodysuits and high heels, singing about making money and being independent.
Remember that in the USA, the average age of a girl when she is trafficked for sex for the first time is 13.
Remember that she’s often brought into the ‘life’ by drug dealers who promise her a celebrity lifestyle, clothes like the ones Beyonce wears, and situations where she can live like Queen Bey: looking hot, being desired by alpha males, wielding power over others with her body and sexuality.
Understand that in an obscene act of manipulation by the young men who will pimp them, for a very short amount of time – maybe only for a half an hour in one of their early encounters – young girls who are trafficked do actually get to taste the experience that they have identified as ultimate feminine success: they get given hot pants or body suits like the one Beyonce’s dancing in, they dance for men who find them alluring, and for a very short time, these very young girls are convinced that they’ve made it – only to be assaulted, abused, and sometimes murdered in the years ahead, by the men who they thought wanted them.
Beyonce, performing in sheer body suits, nipples displayed, mouth open, high heels and sheer tights, shaking her butt on stage, can no longer be held by world leaders as an icon of female success.
Because for as long as she is, we are feeding a demonic myth that women must make themselves sexually available to enjoy ultimate success. And it is demonic because the impact this myth has on those most vulnerable young girls who fall pray to, is unimaginably horrible.
It can take years of a young girl’s life away from her when she tries to escape a life of abuse at home by believing promises of money and glamor, sexual allure and power – a life just like the most successful women in the world; only to be sold for sex, beaten, and made addicted to drugs. It can take a chance of an educated, secure future away from her; and sometimes, if she can’t find an exit – it can take her very life away from her.
Beyonce is a singer and a songwriter. She doesn’t need to wear see through clothes or body suits to sing. We know that because we’ve seen her singing accapella in a hospital in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt and – and she sounded like a celestial being from a different dimension.
She doesn’t have to do this. She’s choosing to. And she’s not the first or only one woman to do it. And like the many women who have played this game the way they have, her reasons may be economic, artistic, personal or even misunderstood. But whatever her reasons, her influence cannot be underestimated or misunderstood.
It’s time that young girls were sent a different message. A more refined, intelligent message. A message that engaged them at the level of their intellect and potential because implicit in our message to them should be the acknowledgement that they are naturally brilliant and that we believe that they are capable of everything – without ever having to undress to achieve their success.
The work here is to re etch the self image and self worth of young girls who think that sexualizing themselves is necessary to be powerful or successful.
So please, let it be known that Beyonce is not a role model.
She may have a lot of money, and she may have enormous influence.
But she can no longer be called a role model.
(Unless you think it would be really cool for Sasha or Malia to follow her example and sing songs for people on a stage whilst wearing sheer gold glitter bodysuits detailing the contours of their body, under the management of their daddy and/or their husband).
Instead, call out those who deliberately allow their sexual identity to eclipse the genius of their spirit and sacredness of their soul. Tell young girls that they are more than that. Engage with artists who sing, dance, write, design, perform – but whose presentation centers on showcasing the brilliance of their brain, not their body.
If I had daughters I’d tell them to pass on the Beyonce show because when you’re wearing a sheer see through body suit with nipples on display, no matter how much gold thread in it – I don’t see any light coming out of it. I just see a glowing ball of soullessness.
I’d say to my girls: all that’s gold doesn’t glitter. Let’s find something genuinely luminous…and take them to a Lorna Simpson exhibition, or a C.C White concert, or hand them a Zadie Smith book.

Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that occurs when B or T lymphocytes, the white blood cells that form a part of the immune system and help protect the body from infection and disease, begin behaving abnormally

He was diagnosed in February this year after suffering serious body pains, headaches, non stop coughing, loss of weight and weakness whileon tour in France. After a series of tests it was determined that he has lymphoma and has been receiving treatment in a UK hospital ever since.

He will be in the UK until his treatment is complete, but so far he is said to be responding well to treatment.

Oyetoro, who has also established himself as an actor and a popular face on TV, also recently stirred the scene. This is courtesy of his ‘shocking’ appearance in the MTN’s I don port advert, a commercial that many have described as an excellent one – not minding the fact that some believe it is a below-the-belt jab for Etisalat, the telecoms company for which he worked as an advertising model for some time.

Ever since Oyetoro’s crossover, in which he is required to lead a major advertising campaign to drive the network portability initiative by Nigerian Communication Commission, Nigerians have not stopped talking about him and his amazing rise to fame and riches.

The deal is believed to be worth about N20m, which is enough to give the hardworking and self-effacing actor a clean break from poverty. But while the man himself has declined to comment on the positive twist in his fortune, he was recently quoted in THE NEWS as saying that he had finally conquered poverty.

In a telephone interview with Punch, SAKA said he was not ready to talk about his new contract with the telecommunications company. “For now, I don’t want to say anything. I promise you that I will talk at the appropriate time,” he said.

But when asked if his new responsibilities as a brand ambassador for MTN would not clash with his job at the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, he replied, “I am a responsible civil servant. My duty is to teach other people’s children well, just as I would expect others to teach mine. So I cannot abandon my job. I assure you, everything has been taken care of.”

A few years ago, little was known about Oyetoro.
Although he studied Theatre Arts at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ago Iwoye worked as a part-time lecturer at the Olabisi Onabanjo University before moving to Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education in Ijanikin, Oyetoro remained relatively obscure for a long while.

In those days, he managed to appear in a few insignificant theatre productions, in which he played mostly comic roles. It took a while before the qualities that would raise him a notch higher than most of his peers began to manifest.

First, Nollywood came calling with an opportunity to establish himself as a regular face on the lighted screen. Oyetoro, who was burning up with a desire to prove himself, had to grab it. Still, a few years later and with appearances in hundreds of Nollywood films to his credit, he was far from hitting the limelight.

Then another opportunity presented itself. This time, it came from Centrespread, an advertising agency. The agency wanted him to be their model for its advertising campaigns with Etisalat. The deal clicked and Oyetoro’s transformation began in earnest. That was when, for the purpose of the campaigns, he assumed a new identity: he became known ‘Saka’, a character that he helped create in 2004 for a TV comedy series titled ‘House A-part’.

Eventually, Oyetoro became the face of Etisalat campaigns. Within a short time, Saka had become a household name and Oyetoro could look forward to a brighter future free of the clutches of poverty.

In an interview published on the Internet, the actor cum lecturer admitted that he was involved in a bitter struggle against poverty for a long time.

Hear him: “Poverty was my friend and family for a long time. As you sit with me here side by side, that was how I was sitting with poverty in the past. There was a lady who disqualified me because I didn’t have a car. But, thank God, I eventually got a wife who genuinely loves me and who I genuinely love.”

The last 12 months have been clouded with several can he get it right alone? Would he pull it through all by himself?

When news circulated that Don Jazzy and D’Banj had split last year it was also said that he left with all Don Jazzy’s catalogue. Of course everyone thought that would be the end of him.

And considering the obvious fact that the last one year has become symbolic as one of the most trying periods for the Nigerian entertainment industry, it has also become a symbolic year in the life of the man who is now known and well referred to as Don Jazzy.

Not many had given him the slightest opportunity to prove his worth-accusations were flying around-but Don Jazzy remained resolute, determined and undeterred in his decision to break even with the MAVINS. Don Jazzy has successfully remained relevant, steadfastly cooking up beats-as much as he can, churning out productions that has left the music industry in a state of frenzy. He has bounced back from scratch!

Has he succeeded? That varies largely on your definition of success but with over a dozen hit productions this year; ‘Take Banana’, ‘Oma Ga’, ‘Amarachi’, ‘Goody Bag’, ‘Kick’, ‘Without My Heart’, ‘Rotate’, ‘Lady Don Dada’- in the last one year, one can only pat the beefy producer on the back for daring to dare and standout! He has bounced back from scratch!

From Tiwa Savage to Wande Coal, D’Prince and Dr. Sid, it’s obvious that Don Jazzy has structured a way out for himself and his league of Mavins.

However, only few people want to understand the obvious fact that the 31 year old music producer, whose wizardry has become one of the most talked about revolutions in the Nigerian music industry, remains the regular man who can be caught tweeting on popular micro-blogging network site, Twitter, as Don Jazzy, or the young man that has decided to give back to that major society that has consistently supported him.

Without attracting undue possession, the term, IDJA (It’s Don Jazzy Again) became one of Nigeria’s most trending and popular 4-letter word on Twitter. Although mystery remains his strongest point, Don Jazzy, has left Nigerians-in Nigeria and its diaspora- wondering who and where he hails from.

Michael Collins Ajereh was born on November 26, 1982. A Nigerian Multi award-winning record producer, singer-songwriter, musician, former CEO of Nigerian record label Mo’ Hits Records founded in 2004 and current CEO of the Mavin Records label which he founded in May 2012

In his kitty, Don Jazzy prides himself as a Voice, Fashion and Social Networking guru, Mo’Hits/ G.O.O.D. Music producer, Samsung Deal, Mavin Records, Mavin League, Loya milk endorsement and an awesome production discography record.

Michael had always had a flair for music, singing and playing the drums from the age of 4. He developed a passion for the bass guitar at the age of 12, He went on to study Business Management at the Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma in Edo stat before he moved to London in the United Kingdom in 2000 after his uncle invited him to come play the drums for the neighborhood Church.

Various odd jobs followed including working at McDonalds and as a security guard. Already imbued with an intimate knowledge of traditional and percussion instruments, Don Jazzy further built on his musical knowledge during his UK stint.

Finding fellow kindred spirits in the likes of Solek, JJC, The 419 squad and D’Banj, the gang would spend unrelenting hours practicing, recording and performing different types of music.

Jazzy’s appetite for a full-time career in music could no longer be satiated when, in 2004, he partnered with D’Banj to set up the Mo’ Hits label. Within two years, the prolific producer had wrapped up two albums (No Long Thing and Rundown/Funk You Up) with his former Mo’ Hits partner and was working on a third, Curriculum Vitae. By this time, he had already started becoming a household name with the trademark intro – It’s Don Jazzy Again!

In 2008 there were further production credits for the best selling album of that year; The Entertainer Don Jazzy repeated the trick with Wande Coal’s Mushin 2 MoHits, an album that was described as one of the best albums to ever come out of Nigeria.

Although not acknowledging himself as a recording artist, he is responsible for doing most Background Vocals for artistes he produces for and sometimes does complete verses. His musical dexterity can be heard through his beats and well calculated vocals he assists to the likes of D’Banj, Sauce Kid, Dr SID, Ikechukwu, Kween, D’Prince and even Jay-Z and Kanye West on their Watch The Throne track Lift Off, featuring Beyoncé.

In 2011 his talents got him noticed by Kanye West who signed him up as a producer on his GOOD Music label.With over a 100 production tracks to his name, the understated genius has worked with a host of local and international celebrities. In spite of his whirlwind superstardom, Don Jazzy has never forgotten his humble beginnings.

On the wake of the split up of Mohits, Samsung unveiled their “Built for Africa” products and Don Jazzy was signed on as their spokes person.

On May 8, 2012, Don Jazzy said, “The way forward now is to make sure I keep bringing you guys more of the beautiful music you all love to dance to,” He kept his promise of a new beginning, as he announced the birth of Mavin Records.
